Garrett with 19000 miles on it - should I worry ?
I could not afford to get a new quality turbo so I found a used one pretty cheap. It's a Garrett T04B and it has roughly 19000 miles on it but zero shaft play and no oil leaks. Should I just install it and not worry about? Car is NOT a daily driver BTW.
BTW, Garrett is made by Honeywell and I work for a different division of Honeywell - they are EXTREMELY **** about their quality control (I have seen people get fired for not performing quality checks or mistakenly making bad parts), so I somehow believe that it will be alright even with that many miles on it although I do not work at the Garrett plant haha.

I have 40,000+ miles on my t3 60trim. As long as it was taken care of, it will last for a long time.

Damn my car is not even a daily driver (no more than 3000 miles a year if not less) AND I do plan to run more than more than 6 PSI right now so I guess I am pretty much set haha. Guess you could say it is overkill for my car but my only other choice would have been a cheaper Ebay turbo and I will not even get started on that subject but to sum it up, I spent almost A WEEK reading on Ebay turbo's because truth be told (and dont hate lol), I was actually thinking of buying one - but then after I read the handful of good stories about them and the DOZENS of bad stories about them I decided it was not worth it with a Ebay turbo.
Then I spoke to a professional turbo rebuilder and he told me not to waste my time and how they claim that the stuff is "computer balanced" etc. etc. when the specs are waaaay off.
Now I am not bashing on Ebay turbo's but when I saw actual proof of how bad the shaft was off balance, etc. on a BRAND NEW Ebay turbo I decided that even if it took me a year I would get a reputable brand! Some people have had luck with those Ebay turbo's I guess which is great for them!
