front bumper exhaust and muffler
did some searches, couldnt find much. what is the minimum length that you people would recommend putting a muffler from the turbo? i mean if its like 25" away from the turbo isnt it going to get really hot? hot enough to melt the insides? or does it not get that hot? also post some pics of what you guys are running for front side exit exhaust through a hole in the bumper

Re: front bumper exhaust and muffler (hamburgler)
There's no room to run an exhaust out the bumper with any kind of a muffler, so anyone who is doing that is on a race car. Crappy for a street car because almost all tracks mandate that the exhaust must be dumped past the front axle. What's your reasoning for wanting to go out of the bumper instead of of a normal catback, with an E-cutout throw on if you like?

Re: front bumper exhaust and muffler (turboEGhatch)
im pretty sure there is room, i saw it done before at a car show. he had a 3 inch pipe straight off the turbo that was bent a little bit to fit and then to a 3 inch muffler with a hole in the bumper about 3 inches or more in diameter. i thought it was a really good idea. save money on a full downpipe and exhaust system and get a little quicker boost (exhaust gases dont have to travel to the back of the car and go through all the turns). makes sense to me but the thought of having all the extra heat may not provide and gains. by the way it was coming off the passenger side

thats is so badass, while not exactly practical for everyday street driving... and getting that emissioned would be tricky

Re: front bumper exhaust and muffler (wantboost)
Legally unless the exhaust shoots straight up above the car you MUSt be at least half the car's length before dumping. Most people who get tickets get it because of the noise instead of length issues...here's mine:

On my Ej I plan to have the exhaust exhaust exit my passenger side fender (after moving fuse box and battery) right..............................
here:
I have a black car and of course the pipe will be black .
K-series motor can allow this. (I live in FL emissions free)

i think it looks cool as hell and a friend has this on his race car, BUT
he also has black **** all down the side of it, and where that soot is, it took the finish off his car and has a bunch of pits in the paint!
i mean the cool factor just isnt enough for me, a cherry bomb and a dump is good enough for me

Re: front bumper exhaust and muffler (bdt09)
that would be hot, no question but i just think the noise would become a pain in the ***. picture how much louder it would be than if it was out the back...

I'm not doing it for a cool factor, although it is pretty cool, but I'm doing it to save weight and maximize power.
I got it figured out on 'my way' not doing the problems you described.
Basically its the way you position the pipe, turbo quiets down the car quite alot and I swear on magnaflow resonators I will be using a 4 inch in/out 3ft , I will definetly post a thread on it.
There is a possiblity of moving the pipe down somemore though.

Re: (MidShipCivic)
is that just an open pipe? i mean cant you put like a muffler/resonator on it to make it quieter?
also, on a hot sunny day when your driving with your windows down arnt you scared of like passing out because the exhaust is shooting in your face?

having it up on the fender like that is the worst idea i have seen yet. You will get fucked up from the fumes. And your car will get dirty as hell.

we call it the "carbon fade paintjob"
as we all know, turbo cars will run rich as **** at some point and without a rearward exit and some kind of good draft to keep it from the car, your car is gettin funky

Because having it up by the window like that won't make you sick to your stomache after driving it for 20 minutes Putting it low int he 1/4 pannel is silly, and having it up by the window even more so.

Resonator will be on ther along with a flex pipe , the pipe will point down and out away from the car.

Alright guys let me do it and I will let you know.
For a more not so obvious look I can do it like this in an aluminum prototype then fabricate carbon pipe as the final with a strong resin and weave, then I wil sell em :

what's your reason to having to have to exit through the side like that? because all the places you've wanted to put, it is very unpractical.. first, toxic fumes enter cabin.. we wouldn't want you passing out while on full boost now would we? second... what about the wheel well? why don't you just stick to a traditional open dp and have it exit under the car?
