Damn, sorry to hear about all your pain, how did you get the oil out of your cabin? I really hope soap water etc. takes it out quick.

I got the max rev kit too. when i saw the blue return line hose and fitting i was like wtf...this is going to leak. So i tossed it and got a SS line. The maxrev kit is not that bad. I just wish people like me on the board were smart enough to ask for final details on what was included with the kit. everyone just got so excited that we forgot to finalize the kit. I ditched the intercooler that came with the kit. I sold it and used that money plus more to get a greddy IC kit which came with piping. The u bends are not the best also- its just plain ol RAW steel. Well its a leason learned.

BTW the auto meter thing is called a signal sender or presure sender. Its like a bladder that send non-flamable liquid to the gauge. Keep actual fuel or oil in the engine compartment.

Did u try to put a clamp on that oil return line? where is it leaking? im assuming you also used teflon tape or paste on the threads?

yes i put a clamp on it. im going to shorten the return line, it kind of bends upwards and i think it may be backing up.

Sorry about all your troubles, I can't even begin to imagine what it would be like to have oil spewing all over your cabin. It's always the little things that turn into to something big.

Good luck to ya with your install... I'm sure you'll work through it.

Well, I think I might have made it sound worse than it is.

The piping size is okay, and from what I have been told, it is fine for what I'm looking for. It's not like I'm looking to do some SUPER DUPER turbo pushing 500 so I think for what it comes with, it's okay.

The manifold to clear up, has been put togehter nicely but the design could be better. This is what I was told anyway.

Most of it I can live with, the things that just bug me is that, if I'm goign to spend $2549 for something, a turbo kit, I would like a more effecient intercooler. And considering this is a kit and I didn't get a chargerpipe or inlet pipe, just makes things kind of silly. It's a kit, and the turbo won't run without a charger pipe so shouldn't it be included?

Anyway though, good luck with what you decide. It's really actually a good beginner kit. At least, this is what I have been told.

Sam, i think you, too are a jackass for letting shane work on your car!! hahaha. sorry. i didnt mean to laugh. Shane is not an experienced mechanic sam. i go to nj and things are falling apart spewing oil and the sky starts falling (at least for ur car haha). Poor you, drop a valve then burn oil etc etc bad luck bro. Anyway stop stressing, yank the carpet out, and beat shanes *** like a drum. Thats what i do, and it actually doesnt do any good afterwards but i feel better. Sorry shane

Im not sure how you installed teh oil line but you had to have messed soemthing up. That stuff should in no way leak, it is so tight. It honestly is a high quality oil line setup. If worse comes to worse, redo it.

Also regarding the maxrev intercooler, i dont think you speak to an accurate source regarding it. In fact, that intercooler os one of the best intercoolers on the market. An extruded core works better than a bar and plate core (like a spearco) as it is far more efficient, and will net you a lower pressure drop with no additional heat buildup.

Aluminum u bends cost 70$ a bend. If you were willing to pay the difference im sure maxrev would have accomodated you. Also most people can not weld the aluminum. Anyone with a mig can weld steel.

I agree with the note on what you refer to as the "charger" pipe. I think you mean the pipe between the turbo and the filter? This is just an intake tube. Most everyone ends up cutting up their old intkaes and using them. Not to justify the excluding a pipe, but that is what goes on. AFAIK revhard does not include intake pipes either.

i think what he ment was the pipe after the IC to the throtle body. (but that i expected since all cars are diffrent)

Goeff to be honest with you im happy with the kit. The only reason why i sold my IC was because i bought a greddy IC that came with piping. I put out probably an extra 100 dollars and that came with piping. I figured i would have paid the same or close to having someone weld the pieces for me.
The only thing that made me mad was that some parts that i thought was included with the kit...later didnt. I just got so excited i forgot to double check what came with the kit.

All in all the kit is great- got my mani all shiny now and im sure if i have any problems in the future, max rev is always there for me-like it has been.

FFgeoff.

I'm acutally fine with the kit, I probably went a little too far with some comments, I made it sound worse than it usually is but most of the kit is fine with what some people are looking for. I think it's a pretty good starter kit.

I was told all these things buy people at payn tech who are very highly reputable people, as many people here have heard of them. So I was going off of that, but they did tell me that the kit is fine for what I'm looking for. A good beginner kit. Take in mind they are probably biased considering they all run Civic hatches with b20 engines and custom made everything that are super top quality. I think they might expect TOO much from me. So for most people I think it's fine.

I still recommed it for the most part.

I was having a bad day, so I guess I ranted.

The u-bend of mild steel I will get powdercoated, and the charger pipe. Well, I'm still thinking of what I'm going to do, probably stainless.

Not to mention ... its illigal to run mechanical fuel pressure inside the cabin.
Only two solutions are a mechanical gauge w/ an isolator by the firewall (but
I dont think anyone has any idea what a PITA it is to hook up and use coolant
pressure to activate the gauge)..... or an electrical gauge w/ a sender box.
Point is .... you can't have a charged line (say 40 or 50psi) of fuel sitting in your a-pillar (or anywhere past the firewall). If it bursts or breaks, or leaks ... you'll be wearing a lot of 93 octane. If you smoke? .... maybe your next of kin will get some insurance money. At the very least... the police will wonder why a guy is on fire running around in the street trying to put himself out.

Mechanical gauges are supposed to go in those cute little cups, out on the hood or away from the occupants ... like oldschool prostock mustang style...

Bursting oil line isn't fatal .. but its just as bad ... hot high pressure oil spraying everywhere. That's lovely ...

I can't even imagine how much that must have sucked ....

I'm not running the gauge anymore, so no worries. I need to develop a wayt o check my air/fuel under boost. definitely going to be investing in a greddy a/f gauge soon.
