RIP Earl.
Whenever I read threads online, I always take information with a grain of salt. One exception was threads written by Earl who was one of the few who actually shared his vast motorsport knowledge with anyone who asked for it.
The H-T community has really lost one of it's best members!
Condolences to the Laskey family.

My condolences to his family... I cannot belive that a good man like him is gone. I did some business with him and he was the kind of guy that I never saw but I was trusting him so much... Its the first time that I hear the lost of someone on the internet and it really touch me because he was really special and he was a big piece of your community in your country. Someone told me that the last post he made was on my topic... he was helping me again... oh man its so sad.

Rest in peace Earl and good luck to his son.

WOW, I cannot believe what I have just read…

I had just seen him on Thursday night…

I can’t even begin to put words to what I am feeling right now… this is just a very tragic turn of events…

Earl…

You were probably the nicest, most honest and coolest people I have EVER met. I will truly miss shooting the **** with you… R.I.P my friend.

Earl was a one of a kind person that had a true passion for our sport. He had a friendly personality and a good sense of humor. He was always willing to help anyone, even if they weren’t a customer.

I would like to give my sincere condolences to his family and loved ones.

Leila, Please send me the information on the services, I would like to come and pay my respects to one of the greatest people I have ever known.

Mike, if you need anything, let me know, I’m here to help in any way I can.

Rest In Peace Earl, you will be missed.

I got the phone call a few days ago reguarding the news and 3 days later it still does not feel real. Especially since I had just spoken to Earl last wednesday/thursday. Earl was a great man. He was ALWAYS willing to help people out and shared his information freely in order to further the knowlege among our community.

I have known Earl for around 4 years now and we spoke on the phone about once or twice a week. For some reason every Friday we would end up on the phone for at least a 30 minutes to discuss anything from engine builds, traveling around the world, to receiving wrong parts and having him overnight them to me since everywhere on the East Coast closes at 5pm.

One thing I have always admired about Earl was the bond between him and Mike. I remember watching how they interacted with one another when I took them out to dinner. Like Art, my father also isn't into racing or building engines. I cannot compare to Art's bond with Earl, but I know exactly how he feels by saying he lost his racing father. I also viewed him in the same eyes even though the relationship I had with Earl was not as strong as the one Art did.

I will truely miss you Earl. You were a great friend.

Earl,

You will be missed, you have contribute so much for the sport of drag racing. You have helped a lot of people in this industry including myself and I am very grateful for that. You have always been a father figure to me when it comes to racing even lately with business. Your legacy will live on in each and everyone of us. You are truly a legend in every ways.

You will forever be missed and in my heart and prayer.

Wow! I'm sorry to hear about this...

I remember him helping me with a major problem and he was such a nice person to talk to. It was so nice to finally talk to someone who was knowledgeable and not arrogant like many in this sport.

Good luck and best wishes to the Laskey family!

Earl was definitely unique in how he handled his customers. It was a refreshing change from the normal company that doesn't give two ***** about customer service.

RIP earl. You will be missed.

I got the phone call on 12-3-06 at 5:45 PM regarding Earl had passed away. At first, I felt nothing. After I hung up the phone and a few minutes later, it started to sink in. My tears started to run down from my eyes. My wife asked me what happened. I told my wife that my friend Earl passed away. I told my wife that he was the one that taught me how build motor and he was the one that I went to the racing events with and he was the one that I spend most of my Saturday afternoon with. A lot of my friends asked me "How do you know how to build motor?". My answer was "Earl taught me". I will never never forget what you taught me and the times we spent together. I will miss you. RIP Earl.

Based on the responses of those that knew him it seems that this was a very unexpected death which is the worst. I am sure that Earl is in a better place now, but our community will be a colder place without him.

All of last night and for 12hrs today at work, Earl was on my mind the whole time, it just seems fake, like I want to be pinched and woken up from this dream, I just can belive he is actually gone, the ONLY opinion that mattered to me, the ONLY one I would let touch my motor, and the ONLY person that I can truly say was an inspiration here is gone. Whenever in doubt, Earl ALWAYS had the answer, and it feels like losing a family member. I just pray you are in a better place, and you will NEVER EVER be forgotten. We love you Earl.

the famous "hello this is earl" answer when i would call. i spent countless hours on the phone with him. the knowledge he gave out was just unbelieveable. he was always good for an hour or more conversation. i learned alot from him just from phone conversation. he was one of the few that would take time out to talk/teach me about motors

Oh yes how could I forge the "hello this is earl" answer.

Some quotes he used to say alot.

I see said the blind man.

I was so mad i couldnt see straight.

He had this giggle that always made me laugh. I remember I would call him up and joke around with him just to make him laugh. I can hear his giggle and voice in my head and that makes me smile, even in this hard time.

I also used to give him a hard time about using ACL bearing, only because I know it would bug him.lol He knew I was always joking with him.

Man I have some good memories of the old man. I've always liked earl. I was the one that gave him the name, "duke of turbo" lol. I also was the one that suggested him to become a moderator.

sorry I am just long winded...
