Default custom downpipe Greddy turbo *Dyno Graph*

I'm probably the only the person who has this done because I can't find anyone on the internet that has a custom elbow and downpipe on a greddy turbo that is this style and still retain AC. Brand new downpipe, mandrel bent 3" exhaust system with Apex'i WS2 muffler, Koyo Rad!! What we did was modified the Top Speed Pro-1 SR20DET turbo outlet to fit my car. The old greddy elbow and downpipe has only 2" in diameter which restricts a lot of flow. The Top Speed elbow is about 2.5" so it'll increase a lot of exhaust flow. the wastegate outlet was not connected back into the exhaust but dumped into the atmosphere. going to sound crazy when it opens up. After the elbow, the downpipe was flared out to 3". From there, the exhaust piping is 3" all the way back with an 18" resonator and an Apex'i WS2 on the end. overall the exhaust system sounds great! it's not loud at all. very low pitch and aggresive. we also bored out the turbo manifold and turbo exhaust housing to get extra flow from there as well. hopefully all this extra flow will yield more power. Took it to T1 Racing for Tony to tune. Gained 63hp to the wheels!!! Peak horsepower is 327.5 at 17psi. definitely will shut people up about how weak the Greddy 18g turbo is. We were both surprised. We both have never seen the Greddy kit make this much power. Sorry there is no torque on the graph because his ignition sensor is messed up.

wow all those pics are just not needed, 2 or 3 of the downpipe would have been sufficient but the pics of the dame were nice, and thanks for sharing the dyno, i keep telling my friend w/a greddy kit to upgrade his POS downpipe.

How do you not get window obstruction tickets daily? Trailer queen?

TBH you'd have made even more power if you'd have run the dump tube back behind the oil pan. You'll also have slightly different AFR's on the road than on the dyno, since the lack of airflow on the dyno lets that dead air get sucked into the turbo - leading to more oxygen (lean) when on the road.

Fortunately you have MANY other things you care more about, if your cluster is any indication. I'll leave it at "great power from a 18g", to not rub you the wrong way.

The state of texas doesn't have any laws against banners like that. I'm tuned by Tony Palo who is considered to be one of the best tuners in the south. I trust him 100%. He makes every tune reliable and safe. It's not running lean on the streets at all. In fact, it's richer than the last tune. My wideband shows 10:1AFR during boost. My wideband hasn't been calibrated in 6 months but I believe it's still fairly accurate. I'm running Neptune RTP so I can add more fuel to the mixture whenever needed.

REGULATORSSSS!!!!!

Anyway, wouldn't the IAT's be high as **** due to that small sized turbo and the amount of psi that's being used? Enlighten me.

Actually, the 18G does not lose efficiency for awhile. My car is pushing 18psi and runs up to 8200rpm. Still well inside the flowmap. The IAT's were around 140 I believe. it was a cool morning day during the tune. there fans thru out the shop to keep air moving around. Greddy makes top notch intercooler to keep the air cool as well. nice turbine fan blowing into the intercooler at all times.

i just added a chart with a torque curve using excel and a formula. I am surprised! Powerband is like from 4200 to Redline!!!

HP = (RPM x Torque) / 5252
Torque = (HP x 5252) / RPM

I've been wanting to do this with the Greddy kit on my B16. Do you have any more details on the downpipe itself?

Pretty good writeup. I've got the Greddy 18g kit on a B16A2 right now and was wanting to do something like this in the near future. Eventually would be looking to go with a top-mount manifold and an externally gated turbo, but I'd hate to get rid of the Greddy while it's still good (resale isn't ****).

When the OP said '31 core intercooler' he was referring to the Greddy 31-Row SpecV model, which has 31 rows of cooling fins inside (designed for higher boost apps I believe).

OP, you still around? I've got some more questions for ya...

WTH happened to the pics of the chick?

On the topic of tech stuff, I got a chuckle out of the heat wrap help in place with zip ties. Is it only me who finds that funny? Maybe I don't need to go to the trouble of holding mine on with safety wire?

too many pictures of the downpipe lol

nice numbers, more impressed you got it @ 17psi through the cast manifold than the turbo

how come you didnt turn it up anymore, was the turbo maxed out?
