I guess reversion is killing you at the cross over point. Were you getting the stumble @ vtec crossover? The combination of parts gets that sometimes. Please enlighten us to the reason for the cam swap.

Re: budget build GSR now a fully built project
My tuner and i are on opposite schedules, so I haven't been able to be present during tuning and such. So from what I clarified when I spoke to him was that infact the motor made 235 TQ and 194 HP. He was able to tune on the primary lobe and was excited about the low end TQ. He said once he set vtec the power would just fall off. I decided to just slap in some integra type R cams. I am assuming the power was bleeding out due to the duration/lift/ what ever it is that hurts turbo motors. I don't know of anybody who has been successfull with TODA A cams in a turbo motor so I have no info to go off of. Unless someone can enlighten me with info I do not see a point keeping them.
That was the first problem.....2nd one was the clutch started to slip at 6k rpms and I was only able to get 480 at 7200 RPMS. To remedy this I am going to get the Clutch masters fx500 since I will be driving this on the street occasionaly.
91 Octane was able to produce 384 hp
C16 was 480 at 7300
I will post a pic of the graph once I go check out the car tomorrow.

Re: budget build GSR now a fully built project
Shodan, Can you give any insight on the toda spec A cams to use on this set up before I ditch them? We tuned the primary lobe and netted 294 TQ at almost 6k. But once VTEC was set and kicked on the power fell off. We tried changing settings on the cams to keep the intake and exhaust side from being open at the same time as much as possible but the combustion chamber was leaking out power, so I put in some ITR cams and netted 384 on 91 oct at 8k and 484 @ 7k with the clutch starting to slip at 6k rpms. I am changing out the clutch for a CM fx500 for now till i can afford a twin disc set up. I will be driving the car on its 91 oct tune most of the time anyways so the fx500 should be good for now.

see this is where I'm lost now, Myles couldn't get it to make power after vtec set from anywhere from 5500-6800 it would fall off in power drastically. even with adjusting cam gears.

The toda cams don't have enough overlap to cause that much power loss... so either the clutch was slipping worse than you thought or your mechanical cam timing (belt not the cam gear adjustment) is off

Re: budget build GSR now a fully built project
Well the car in the current form has made 380 on 91 octane and 530 HP on q16. Due to the restrictive flow of the revhard manifold and boost creep on the smaller wastegate, I will be switching over to a ram horn manifold and a 44mm Tial WG. I am also contemplating the changing out of the s2 pro series manifold for a victor x or a custom Rev hard turbo manifold myles has. The toda cams may be going back in as I feel they will net me better low end and mid range power before the turbo starts to spool and kick in. I will also be planning a retune with Bubba from Do It Dyno or Kevin at Whitfield to see what gains the new mods will bring. Hopefully I will be in the 580-620 range on 22-28 lbs boost range. I will keep this updated after I upgrade parts and take the car for a retune in preparation for IFO in February.
I have installed a CM stg 5 kit on the car and DSS 3.9's with hubs are on the car as well.

Ditched the revhard mini ram and 38mm WG. Upgraded the compressor on GT35R to 11 Blade billet piece still .63 AR hotside, Using sheepey top mount and Precision 46mm WG upgraded to walbro 400 lph pump as well and still on toda a cams.
91 pump gas netted 483 HP and 302 TQ at 18 psi on a dynapak at inline four. Tuned by Bubba. I decided to leave it alone at that level and called it quits. Bubba says I can make an easy 100 HP more with race gas and even more with more PSI.

Re: budget build GSR now a fully built project
Well it has been a while since I came on here to update. A LOT has happened since the last post. Quick recap
Update:
Around early May I took the car back to Bubba to get retuned. I had hooked up a 3 inch exhaust to quiet her down some and set up my boost by gear. On 91 octane and torco accelerator for protection on 18psi I was @ 457 HP. Turned it up to 24 psi and accomplished 558 HP. I settled for the 18 psi tune for occasional cruising and street driving.
Fathers Day weekend:
My dad flew in from Abu Dhabi(contract job) and he saw my project in the garage. He asked how fast it was since he knew I did some street racing back in the day. I said its pretty fast and took him for a ride. Old man bout **** himself after making a full pull lol.
Dooms Day:
I was driving the car to the gym and noticed the car was starting to idle funny. I drove it straight to my friends shop. As soon as I pulled up it dies and wont start. Quick diagnosis is no spark, We take the dizzy apart and rebuild it and slap it back on and it fires right up. I did not set timming as I should have and i took her for a spin and it felt sluggish. Obviously timing was off, but I didn't think of that right away. I popped the hood open and saw oil dripping between crank pulley and block and its a good amount. I decide to check oil level and nurse it home. As I am halfway home the car starts to overheat and loses power. I pull over and call it quits, have it towed.
Results:
I asked Tony Garcia to do the tear down and analysis as this would be the 3 rebuild of this motor. Upon analysis ALL bearings were chewed up, GSR crank is scared and toast, Head has some groves in the cam journal area, eagle rods have heat transfer, and the pistons are scarred bad.
The block was measured and no longer in spec. Needed to be punched out to 84.5, this is where the fun begins.
Ordered parts list:
Deachwerks 1300 cc injectors
Comp Clutch twin disc
CP 9:1 turbo pistons
Carillo rods
Portflow cnc valve job with supertech VT and valves
new water and oil pump.
LS crank balanced and polished

Re: budget build GSR now a fully built project
Budget originally was eagle rods and wiesco piston on stock bore bottom end with block girdle.
$550
mix matched turbo kit $1200
I was looking at 3k max at the beginning of this build. Im not into it 8k minimum i think as of now. and thats just motor parts not including dyno and labor fees lol
