Default Bad idea to turbo a high mileage D16?

I have a 94 si with about 150k...have recently replaced water pump and all related parts as well as a full tune up...runs strong, but transmission might be on its way out. What should I do turbo/tranny or swap?

I boosted mine with 118K on it. It run great but went because it wasn't tuned. It was just running the blue box. It would of lasted a whole lot longer if it'd had been tuned.

it'll be fine especially if you build the engine, and tuning will be key so spend good money on that

if the trans is "going" try replacing the fluid in it, and if that doesnt fix it, have a backup trans, but honda engines can handle boost if they are old but running well.

i have an over-100,000 mile engine being boosted daily. tuning is the key. make sure its got a good partial throttle tune, and a safe but not completely extreme boost tune.

Personally I would do a full leak down to see how sound it was, but if you blow it Im sure you can find another D series for $500-800 from someone.

i think it is a great idea!! That way you can tune the bitch and **** using the old motor and in the case that something goes wrong you blow the old motor.
In the meantime, build a better motor. Learning at the cost of the old motor is worth it IMHO.
