Solid CEL, no key on blink...
Hey guys, I post this here as I feel more people that have messed with chipping the stock ecu's and such might know the answer...
I've experienced this situation before, but it was always with a 'bad' ecu, or one that someone botched a chip install..
Anyways, turn the key on, CEL comes on, relay primes pump, relay clicks off, but CEL never goes off. With a code it will come on, go off for a second or two, and come back on. This one just stays constant.
I've tried 2 different ecu's and it gives the same reaction. Has all power/ground inputs(checked with DMM).
Any ideas?

Just to make sure are you getting a check engine light or a service engine soon light?
Check engine light will well like a engine. That means something is wrong
If it is a service engine soon light. That is just a reminder to change your oil and get a service done to the car.
Just want to make sure cause I get a bunch of people asking me about that all the time.

It's the check engine, the car will not start either, smells like its dumping fuel and when I checked last nite there was no spark. I checked through the dizzy and swapped the ignitor, coil ohm'd ok...

Unplugged everything that connects to the engine and turned the key on, same thing
This is a wierd one! I've probably done at minimum 200 honda swaps when we had our shop back in the day, and I've never experienced this...

Re: Solid CEL, no key on blink...
92 cx hatch. Guy supposedly drove it in his garage, put a 97 ex motor in it, and then it wouldn't start. I bought it figuring he fubared the dizzy wiring, but that all seems correct.
The initial key on seems right, light comes on, fuel pump primes for 2 seconds, cuts off. Only thing is the light doesn't go off, it stays on solid, like it has a bad ecu. Didn't get a chance to confirm ecu tonite, will try tomorrow or something.

Have you tried to read any diagnostic trouble codes that might be stored on the ECU? Self diagnosis procedure/paper clip method should still work if all of the ECU wiring is correct. It may or may not point you in the right direction.

Re: Solid CEL, no key on blink...
I found a Honda troubleshooting flowchart on this issue. Seems it's possible to have an issue with the grn/wht wire for the tps/map/egr and it cause this.
Going to run throught that tonite and see what I come up with.
