Do you freeze the sleeves and heat the block when pressing in your sleeves?

Freezing the sleeves is not needed. Heating of the block is though it grows considerably when heated. sleeves are installed when the block is about 180 degrees.

Here is some of my fabrication and welding on this Subaru I either made or machined everything on it. The drysump was a challenging system to get to fit #16 line does not make turns easily... Ill see if I can find pics of the manifolds and the dry pan.

Some of my favorite sleeves hands down best bang for your $$$ holds 800+ whp and is not as expensive as a closed deck.. And saves me time on install/machining time.

The ones you say are your Fav.. I use LA sleeves and have had nothing but good things. I get them super cheap and they hold over 1000HP In our drag car.

There seems to be a lot of people experiencing difficulty with sleeved subaru blocks, specifically the EJ25. Any issues so far with sinking or leaks?

Just depends on who does the work and how experienced they are. Subarus are strange creatures. I have sleeved upwards of 700+ Subaru blocks and know what to look for when Sleeving them to ensure a proper finished product. There are many many things that need attention when Sleeving a Subaru and it pretty much comes down to the amout of time spent when performing the task. If you are lazy or inexperienced it will more than likely fail.

People have difficulty keeping Subaru engines together... PERIOD.

1 Subaru Block since 2005 had internal leakage. It took about a year to determine why it happened. It had to do with a particular casting that Subaru made and the problem has since been addressed. It had nothing to do with the installation. As far as Sinking sleeves is concerned, that is going to happen with any aluminum engine with or without aftermarket sleeves. Lately, we have measured up to .011" drop on the OEM Honda B18 center section. So if the center is dropping without the addition of sleeves its going to do it with the sleeves. Its just a matter of educating/informing people of why it occurs in the first place and what can be done to help reduce it from happening.

Yes, but this happens with not just a certain generation of block, many have had trouble keeping them stable. I have done a few sti engine builds and am not comfortable pushing them high power because they just won't hold up. Seems like the mass and rigidity of the block cannot accomodate large amounts of power for an extended period of time.

As far as b series go I have observed a good amount of waviness to the decks as the blocks season. Often I find a height difference between the sleeve lining and block casting but the ribbed liner is usually very secure. 011" is pretty damn high i'm used to maybe .003-7" typically.

Very nice sleeving and info posted, thank you for sharing. Can I ask where you work or what company it is?

When you machine the flats on the sleeves, are you leaving any clearance between them when they are pressed in? Or is it size for size?
