Vibrant Timing belt guide : our small review(pic intensive)
Just the other day we recieved the new B series and H series timing belt "tensioners" from Vibrant performance. We got the tensioner for our civic hotrod car, to help guide and reduce the slopiness often seen on the exhuast side of the timing belt. This should also help produce more accurate timing as well. In the past we ran stock b18c cams in the car with off the shelf Ferrea valvetrain. We have now upgraded to a new roller cam valvetrain, slightly stiffer valvesprings, along with a few other tricks and feel this is neccessary to atain accurate & stable timing events.
Here are a few pictures of the tensioners/guides out of the box, and installed on our race engines. we will be putting these through the paces in the upcoming weeks. The Tensioner/guide is easily adjusted height wise with the adjustment holes seen on the side of the bracket, and the wheel/guide is easily adjusted with the allen head set screw located on the frontside of the device, it is then "locked" into position with the allenhead bolt, holding the wheel on. i recomend taking the set screw out after final adjustents are made, as you do not want to lose the set screw from vibration, or you can get a nut, to use as a jam nut to lock the set screw into place.
We bought our Guides/Tensioners from John @ ETD racing (great guy BTW) you can visit their site for more information on the tensioner ETDracing.com
ETD also did a full tech article, which explains how to set the guide up properly, it can be seen here
out of the box
the H series and the B series together
In these pictures, the tensioner/guide is adjusted, it can be positioned in any of the holes along the side.
And now the B series guide/tensioner
this is the side of the b series tensioner, it can also be adjusted in height along the belt shall the end user choose to do so.
here is a "frontal" shot of the setup. it uses the 2 lower power steering mounting locations
the tensioner/guide installed on a B series race engine. In the pics the tensioner/guide is not adjusted properly, pay no mind to the adjustments.

here are some pics of the tensioner/guide installed on our hotrod civic coupe.
this is Top view, looking down, we did a slight mod to the bracket in order for it to fit with the Z10 "race" alternator kit
a "side" view, we do not put tension on the belt with this.
the boss stepped in to see what all this "fuss" was about
here is an overall shot of the car.
both of our cars will be sporting the Vibrant performance tensioners this season, as well as the upcoming seasons
in our opinion, this is a product that the market has needed for a long time we are glad to have such a product available.

Dave, has there been any comments on how long the bearing in the wheel is suppose to last for? Is it replacable? This is my only concern. I have been looking to use this for a little while now.

Re: Vibrant Timing belt guide : our small review(pic intensive) (tepid1)
It uses the same bearing that Meziere uses in their waterpump block off. It's rated for 29,000rpm and is an OEM grade bearing so it should last the same time as the waterpump block off's do which as far as we know, we have never heard of one failing.

Re: Vibrant Timing belt guide : our small review(pic intensive) (STREETWERKZ)
is this product to keep more accurate timing or more to prevent the timing belt from slipping?
