Twin Disc and shattering oil pumps

Twin Disc and shattering oil pumps
I have now shattered 2 oil pumps on my current GSR motor, and it always happens at the top of 4th at around 9500 rpm. This has only started happening once I put the twin disc on, and yes I am still using a brand new OEM pulley. The motor has always had a very slight, but still noticeable pulley wobble at idle, but was never an issue till the twin disc. At the track, with what the controller is set at, it should be making about 700whp.
Is an ATI race damper a must at this level, or am I just band aiding something else?

yes.. even though most OEM pulleys are balanced, they are not as tight fitting as fluidampr or ATI.. the tightness of the ati/fluidampr helps transfer the vibration to help absorb better.. idk if thats whats casueing it shatter but im sure it something along those lines.. but having an ati or fluidampr it wil make things feel better and make you feel better.. been watching your build and runs and still waiting on your 9 sec pass on stock sleeves!

highly recommended man after i destroyed my last block i was informed that i should have been on one of these dampers a long time ago and not being on one probly lead to the demise of my build

The motor has always had a crank pulley wobble? I think you need to address that situation before even considering the clutch as the source of the problem.

Also, is the crank balanced? Clutch and flywheel balanced? We've been on an OEM pulley and pump for two years. Motor sees 10,500-10,700rpm. I don't think the aftermarket dampeners are a "must", but they are nice for piece of mind.
If the crank pulley wobbles try swapping for another one. If it still wobbles I would think its crank related. The snout might be f'ed up.

Re: Twin Disc and shattering oil pumps
The pump gears dont do ****... Seen few of them break too... Mostly on 1232's Ive broke an OEM (12K 1232), but the circuitworx ones seen a few of them break too... They dont offer any increase in volume, and as Ive actually seen as many of them break as OEMS (in my limited experience) I do not for a second believe they are a must have.
Sounds like your crank is ****ed up. iTS NOT THE CLUTCH DUDE.
I run an OEM pulley making 750 flailed of the limiter relentlessly at 9K... CC twin
No issues.

Re: Twin Disc and shattering oil pumps
Doesn't matter if its twin disc or not. I've just shattered an oil pump recently with a single disc reving to 9700 with no damper trapping 148mph. I'm lucky I didnt lose the block. The middle mains were starting to go and the thrust washer was toast. Definitely using a ATI pulley this time around along with a twin disc.

I agree with what everyone else says. I chose to upgrade my pump with the circuit worx one and have used an ATI since 03.

Re: Twin Disc and shattering oil pumps
The clutch is a CC Twin. The motor has always a slight pulley wobble....from when it was a bone stock 170,000 mile motor, to after I had Laskey Racing build the complete bottom end. Ran it for a year at around 500whp and 8500rpm till my CC Stg 5 finally gave out. Went to the CC Twin (which is AWESOME! by the way) and now have shattered 2 pumps. Going to try the ATI race damper and go from there. There is only one model they carry for the b-series race unit right? Steel?
This is the run it broke again on. Yes there was no track prepp LoL.

Re: Twin Disc and shattering oil pumps
Like others have said it could be a crank issue, it could have been dropped or something to damage it and that could be the cause of the wobble and bad vibrations.
