any good black paint will work for the most part (I've used primer, gloss, semi-gloss, etc... you name it). You just have to prep the surface good. I would recommend scuffing the area your going to paint with some steel wool or a med/fine grit sand paper to prevent peeling, chipping, etc...
I would also recommend to do all you cutting, shaping, and drilling before painting. Also a few coats might be needed to give a good black finish. If your really ****, once paint dry's place the lexan against the car to see if the black is transparent. On light colored cars, etc... you need a few coats because the white paint may show through the black painted lexan.

i was thinking about doing something to that extent, like get a piece of vinal cut out to the fatory "black edge" specs, but than i remebered about painting the inside of my RC cars back in the day.

tell me what you think.

if i decide on painting, how would one sugest i tape/ block off area's i dont want to paint.????

i was thinking about appling some of the "blue" masking tape to a piece of wax paper(so i can re apply to my lexan) and trying to trace over a stock window thus giving me the proper "area of black" than cut it out, peel it off the wax paper, apply it to my lexan, paint(maybe a few times) than peel the blue masking tape off my lexan.

tell me what you think.

thanks again

just tape off the back side, use 1000 grit sand paper and scuff the surface, then use krylon semi-flat black. three light coats will easily cover it.

----Yeah, just make sure the lexan is scuffed, other then that, the paint would have to be pretty bad quality, Lik Kevin said, 3 coats and you should be good for a while. Make sure all the holes are cut before paint.

if your windows still have the protective coating, just mark off what I want painted, cut it along the line you drew with a razor going lightly.
Then prep the area, paint it black. You dont have to mess with masking anything else.

I always have to make my windows from a sheet so.... I comes with the paper on both sides.

just do as evil; says and cut the protective paper where you want it painted and use RC paint.the only prep you need to do is clean it.if you are just pealing off the paper,it will already be clean.do not sand it,the sanding might show up in the lexan.just mask it off and paint it. i have done this thousands of times in car stereo installs and never had a problem.

yep cut your window and drill out then trace out where you want to cut on the lexan protective cover, then paint.....or if you dont want paint you could cover the entire window with black vinyl and trace out...dont know how well it would work.....make sure you put some type of thin weather seal or sealant on your window....because if it gets caught in the rain it will get in there....

There is 2 types of lexan..regular and scratch/mar resistant. For painting the regular, cut off the backing like others have said. Spray some carb cleaner on a rag and just wipe it over the exposed area. You can then use any cheap paint after that and it will stick perfectly.
As to the scratch resistant, this will not work as paint will pop off in spots. Next time I will try the RC paint idea. Good idea

Flat black RC car paint looks the best on mr10/scratch resistant LEXAN.

if you do not sand it, it will not stick. 1000 grit will not show scratches.

we just cut the windows and put them in then used the car to trace the pattern and pull off the inside piece and your done. it looks very clean. if you plan on keeping the car for a while. paint always seems to start to look nasty and gets spotty after a while. weve had vinyl on our windows for 2 1/2 yrs and it still looks new(the vinyl anyways)
