You'll have plenty of time for time trials... between heads up qualifying rounds, before eliminations.

An hour between qualifying rounds (you only really need one good pass to qualify), 1 and a half hours before eliminations, then 1 hour and 15 mins between elimination rounds. Will you all need more time? Remember, we're trying to have things wrapped up before kick off. I don't really care about the SB, so if you all want to have more time between rounds, it's ok with us. Let us know...

I personally think that is enough time, but that's my .02.

No and I took that into consideration before posting, but at the same time 15 minutes isn't really going to make a difference. If we need to expand the times anywhere it would be during elimination times, but leave the qualifying times alone.

I guess that means that we will stay home, I was dreading the 15 hour trip anyways. Why dont you guys just pay Chuck and prodrag to show up and run exhibition and not put the fwd drive class out of reach. I was really hoping you guys would keep this class in reach for the little guy.
I would like to wish Chuck the best of luck

Cliff, why dont we have a driver's meeting to see what we think is best. What I think is best probably won't be best for the majority of the other racers. But I would bet that most of the racers don't care about the SB. Either way I'll be racing even if Brian or Chuck show up. How cool would that pic be with me lineing up with one of those 2!!!

I would like to see a full field, but if no more hot rod cars are going to show up besides me, man I'm cool with just watching and hanging out, I would rather watch alot of evenly matched cars than to go down there and have one car run away with a race, but I also don't want to drive down there and watch 3 cars race each other all day, you guys let me know if there is a full field, I would just as soon come and watch and have a good time, as to race, It costs me 5 times more to race my car than what I could win, I'm cool with whatever

We already had a drivers meeting in that other thread, remember? Anyway, let's have another one here, before the event, not on the day of...

Just a recap... Remember we couldn't make a seperate class for the Hot Rod cars because it would take a huge payout, which we can't afford, to get enough hot rod cars for a competitve race. However, we don't want to exclude the hot rod cars completely because those are the cars that many spectators like to see and it's the spectators that support these events financially. That's when we all decided to allow hot rod cars, but spread the payouts further down the line so the street slick cars would still have a chance to win $$$. I thought most of the racers agreed this would be the best way for everyone?... spectators, street cars, and hot rod cars.

Ok now, ALL FWD QUICK 8 RACERS (no one else please), post your opinions on how YOU want this race. Before you post, please consider everything as a whole and remember why we're doing this event... because all the other races have decided to skip TX this year. If this event is a success, we can do many more all over Texas with bigger payouts and more classes. Then, maybe Nopi or NHRA would consider coming back.

Chuck has already said he'd still come down as long as the field is full, even if he's not allowed to race. Pro Drag, would you all be willing to come over for the event even if Hot Rod cars are prohibited for competition? IFO can give the Hot Rod guys free entry passes and unlimited test and tune. SAR is a good track and it'd be great place to test for the upcoming series races.

Cliff I keep forgetting that the event is only 1 day and not 2 where we have all qualitying and eliminations on one day. there is no real option then other than keeping it the way it is. I'll be tunning at the track so this should be fun..hehe

I think you should focus more on the sportsman racers (classes). There are alot of up & coming sportsman racers in the midwest BUT all the other series have focused their events on the east & some on the west cost.

Most of us cant travel to Florida or Maryland, leaving us with nowhere to race. This is your opportunity to take over the midwest & surrounding states & make your series grow. I would also suggest to implement the same rules as the NDRA series has in their sportsman classes (which IMO is lenient already) making it more convenient for us in case we do decide to travel far. That could also bring in potential racers from the NDRA series in the future if import faceoff becomes successful.

People keep mentioning that the hot rod cars will attract more spectators BUT IMO I think that our cars in the street classes are becoming fast enough for people to want to come a see them run the "fast numbers".

I have no problem with the hot rod cars making exhibition passes, but to put 8 second cars against 10 second cars will take away from the anticipation, not allow import faceoff to grow, & potential sportsman racers to avoid your series or avoid building their cars specifically for the street classes. Then again you would have a problem similar to the one in the PROFWD classes where theres no more than 3 cars at the most racing in that class at an event.

Again this is just my opinion & I dont expect you to change anything to my liking. I am still trying to finish my car in order to make it next weekend.
thanks for reading,

Tommy

I think you should keep the class open to the sport fwd guys. These guys will fill a class and make for competetive racing. The pro guys need to show up for testing. Both of you need testing, you better be there!!!

My only suggestion would be to make the FWD quick 8 class a gas only class with no methenol or alchol. I don't want to see the class turn into a street car class because there is alot of dragcars that are still running gas that can not run the number to run in any other seires.

I think the rules should favor the majority, after all, you want a full competetive field, right? For the most part, it seems everyone has built their cars to the NDRA rules for sport fwd. I think it makes the most sense to stick to those rules. No need to reinvent the wheel here.

Ok, Prodrag and Chuck said they don't mind just doing some T&T. I think those were the only Hot Rod cars you all were worried about, so is it ok to officially change the rules to T4 now?

Chuck and Prodrag, find out who all is coming with you, then please give me a call, 225-335-6428.

Thanks!

As far as changing the rules to T4 when are you going to implement them? Starting at the Feb 27th event or what? And also, will this mean same safety requirements as 11.49 quicker=cage required, 11.99 quicker=scatter shield required, etc?

Nopi T4 rules summary that will be implemented into IFO FWD Quick 8...

Stock body, stock chassis, FWD, stand alone eng mgt ok, slicks ok, 4-cyl with power adders, no rotaries, no air cooled, lexan windows prohibited, no muffler required, door panels, dash, headliner, and carpet must remain, but passenger seats cam be removed, no wheelie bars, head lights, turn signals, and tail lights must remain.

/\/\...What else is there? Before changing the rules for the FWD class, we must make sure it's ok with EVERYONE because the original rules were posted weeks ago. All the FWD class racers are on this board, so speak up now.

As for safety requirements, we'll go by what the track allows. I'll contact SAR and ask them what they require, then post it here. Same goes for the Baton Rouge event, I'll ask NPR what their safety requirements are then post in the LA IFO thread.

So if I understand correctly we are only going to be changing the rules for FWD 8 and not Street Tire 8, correct? Keep us updated with safety regulations.

Need a rollcall of who all is going to be leaving Saturday afternoon with us to head to San Antonio so we can arrange an official meeting place and time.

Right... Only FWD

SAR requires Roll Bar with 5 pt harness for cars 11.49 and faster... Roll Cage for cars 9.99 and faster.

San Antonio Raceway phone number is 210-698-2310 if anyone needs to call for more questions.

Wow....... We should all be thankful that Cliff is so open minded and understanding. First he went out of his way to throw an event for all of us "disenfranchised" Texas racers.. Then he changes the rules for us.. Let's not ask for too much here ok. Lets just be thankful we got what we got. Im just happy there is an event to get motivated and excited about. Win or lose, we are going there to have fun.

And also, Chuck and Prodrag really deserve a lap dance or two for being so caring. Dropping out of a race that, by the rules, allows them to race- Just to let the little(r) guys battle it out. That is a real stand up thing to do.

Good luck everyone.

Cliff, as for time between rounds. It sounds fine to me. People gotta understand this is a one day event. Not two. The time is just not there to be changing tranny's and all that.

You are definitely right about Chuck and Pro Drag. This event could have been easy money for them, but they're willing to do what is best for the sport as a whole.
