TD Autowerkes SFWD hatch receives new goodies.
Since we haven’t been on HT much lately, we thought it’d be a good idea to come on here and update some of you on what’s been going on over at TD Autowerkes. During the offseason, we had some extra time as well as surplus funding to fund some much needed upgrades to our SFWD race car.
The first person we contacted was Tony @ T1 Race Development who was more than helpful in assisting us in our quest to go faster. He suggested that we ditch our AEM EMS in favor of a MoTeC M800. Trusting his years of MoTeC tuning and racing experience, we followed his suggestions without hesitation. His help has been invaluable to us and we can not thank him enough for what he has done for our racing program. From initial setup to late night calls from the track, Tony is a hell of a friend and business man.
Shortly after, we contacted Joel @ Speed Theory / Race Spec to design and build a custom, badass mil-spec engine harness where no expense was spared along with a custom switch panel and in-cab fuse box. Joel also suggested that we purchase an AIM Strada dash to monitor our engine’s vitals. The end product is truly a work of art and worth every penny. Joel, you’re a badass. PERIOD. Thank you for always coming through and making our engine bay look great.
Once we had the ECU and harness sorted out, we called Reid @ Kaizenspeed in search of one of his tubular rear end conversion kits and after a short conversation, we found that he was in the market for a set of BelaK Industries wheels which we happened to have in stock and were able to make a trade. We could not be more pleased with the quality and workmanship on the components of the KS kit.
Upon receiving and installing the Kaizenspeed rear end, we felt that there was something missing. We contacted Strange Engineering and ordered some custom TD Autowerkes spec double adjustable coil overs with Hypercoil springs which really complimented the looks and adjustability of the KS rear.
Last but not least, Alan @ BelaK Industries for giving us a pair of 15x9 wheels for the dyno, a set of beadlocked 13x10, and one-piece 15x3.5 skinnies for the track.
I’lll leave you with a few pictures of the newly installed goodies and a video of the car at a recent test and tune session.

Sounds good!!! Trying to think if I have seen anyone else using Motec on their SFWD k series car and I don't think I have. Seen it on the B series a lot.

Thank you! Ran a consistent 9.1-9.0 at its first official outing this past weekend at Dragmania. It's first time seeing fourth gear on the new MoTeC tune. It seems to get faster with every pass so we're excited to see what it'll do.
You might be on to something there. Now that I think about it I can't remember if I've seen it on any K cars. Plenty of B but no K's come to mind. Thank you
Thanks scoop.

Ooh, a Long shifter arm and a strain gauge! One of the best upgrades we have ever done to these cars was let Tony talk us into strain gauges, well, that and Motec.
