Switching from Hondata to a Fancier one?
I'm very comfortable tuning hondata, love how its setup. ...however, i feel like i need to start looking at other options but i want something that would make for an easy transition. I looked at the AEM Infinity software and its just not seeming like the way to go. I want to KISS and have the same 'merican increments, etc. Not KPA, and Celsius stuff.
any suggestions? Don't even bother suggesting motec haha.

I have only briefly played with the Infinity. But, I'm sure you can configure your Units to read PSI, Farhrenheit, AFR etc... I have used AEMPro, AEMTuner and Smanager. I'd be full of shyt if I said AEMPro isn't my favorite.

Fueltech.
Domestic guys are switching to Fueltech and dropping their times A LOT.
FuelTech Ems - High Performance Automotive Equipment - Engine management systems
Download their software and take a look at the samples that comes along with the package.

Im a Authorized wholesale distributor for Fuel tech so im around this system all day. most of the cars here are on it except for mine so far.
First time i got my hands on a Fuel tech i was able to get the car running and make a decent map to make a few pulls .Real simple! i might want to say it might even be easier than the s300 it self.

I tune hondata aem Neptune I have had my hand in a few others I switched from s300 to infinity this year and it has been the best decision ever. Kpa isn't bad it's just reality lol, it can be switched in the software but it's not as easy as some have said you have to write the conversion channel but all the info on how to do it is there. Switching from c to f isn't hard at all though also viewing psi in the log and the grid isn't hard st all just a click away. Once you tune in ve you will never go back.

from looking at fultech its VE based only and 2Digniton maps only? very simple.. too simple for me, i like being a keyboard warrior wielding my laptop LOL

Re: Switching from Hondata to a Fancier one?
Old FT models have 2d maps (internally they're 3d interpolated maps, but config is done in 2d) and you have to go to the proper compensation menus in order to do the job, but newer models are 3D.
Also the FT Manager software allows you to build your map in either 3D or 2D modes. If you downloaded the FT Manager software and you're seeing 2D maps, you need go to options and switch your fuel and ignition maps to "Avanced". That will let you build 3d fuel and ignition maps.

Re: Switching from Hondata to a Fancier one?
We use fuel tech on our formula sae car and it is great. I've played around on hondata a few times and it was very user friendly, and i would have to say that so is fuel tech. Some food for thought, we switched from a motec m600 and did not experience any significant power loss... Now you can do a lot more with motec, but unless you're going to take advantage of those features its not worth it. We are also naturally aspirated so I don't know if there is any of the cool boost by rear wheel speed or g force or what ever all the really fast ppl are using, in fuel tech but it does have boost by rpm in all of the versions. I'd give it a try, its not too pricey compared to some others.

Re: Switching from Hondata to a Fancier one?
It does, but it's only Boost x RPM control.
If you stick with FT300, you can stack it with the GearController module for ign timing compensation based on wheel speed and then do the trick.
But that's nothing when you chek all the compensations you can put in place if you go FT500.

He is actually now the worlds fastest drag truck in history too! During drag week some euro guys got a truck down to 6.05 or so, so at the time larrys low 6 wasnt enough to be the fastest truck, but now he even has that title.

Re: Switching from Hondata to a Fancier one?
if I switch it will be AEM v2 after working with the software, however, any advice on the boost control stuff in there?

Re: Switching from Hondata to a Fancier one?
imo if you go aem v2 youll be downgrading
think of it like this hondata that always works its a stock ecu
aem that sometimes works and when it does its fine, but it mostly does not work. failing drivers and random *** hardware problems.

ya i don't know about that. From what I see, Series 2 did away with a lot of those electrical issues.

Re: Switching from Hondata to a Fancier one?
just last week we were chancing an issue with an evo and aem v2. it was dying on 1 cylinder at idle very strange problem. switched coil driver to another one in the box then the car gets stuck at -17* timing send ecu back to aem they say its fine. (they also say extra coil drive on 6 so we used it) so on a whim we disable coil 6 re phase it and use the 4 normal coils. fixes the problem.
i deal with alot of aem stuff i even had aem v1 in my car for 5 years.(the tune would always randomly change it was horrible and inconstant ruined the car.. i guess when it works its fine but i see so much bullshit with them i do not run any aem products and have since switched to haltech. for the only reason i can use that ecu in both my cars or i would still be on s300v3.
