Uber rookie question but what exactly does a staging brake do? I'm asuming it basically holds the car in place so you don't have to use the ebrake before your about to launch?

by the looks of the k sport one that little bar that says k sport flips over and locks onto to the notches on the piston shaft which i would think locks it into place to hold the brake on

Somewhat correct, but a few things missed out. A staging brake is hydro, whereas a typical Ebrake is cable. Requirs a lot less travel (hand movement) to lock the rear wheels.

Hydro Staging Brake setups are also widely used in rally and drifting.

I'm about to put one in my car so I will try to document it and take some photos.

yes the ksport has 4 settings where it can lock down. I have mine mounted right where the factory one went. It can also be set up lice the cnc one. The only thing i did was use a factory honda clutch resivoir and run a line to it to feed it fluid.

seems a staging brake is just too much to install in a street driven race car, what about just running a line lock operated by a steering wheel remote like the greddy profec b remote switch? I have used one of these to activate a nitrous solenoid before, so it should have no problem activating a line lock solenoid, its a momentary switch that on remote. this would be great especially for people who needs a working ebrake. (I have the remote already so I may be trying this in the future)
