Hey guys,

I am prepping my car to run in the street class at IFO, but have some questions about their rules.

Firstly, my exhaust comes just past my oil pan. Is this acceptable, or does the exhaust need to be run out of the back with a muffler?

Secondly, I have cut outs in my rear bumper. Does this violate the rule of "no cutting" for this class?

Finally, I have both headlights, but one is an intake duct for my turbo. Does this violate a rule for this class?

This is for the Montgomery, AL event next month. This is my first event, so please excuse my questions if they are relatively simple.

Rules from the IFO site for FORCED INDUCTION SPORT:

BODY
Import or domestic compact car bodies allowed. Current tags and registration required. One piece and widened front ends prohibited. Bumpers can not be removed. No cutting allowed for weight reduction or wheel clearance purposes. All tail lights and head lights required.

INTERIOR
Doors must open and close from inside and outside the vehicle. No center drive configurations. All seats (front and back), door panels, dash, and carpet (front and back) must remain inside vehicle. No lexan allowed. No cutting allowed for weight reduction.

CHASSIS AND SUSPENSION
Full tube chassis prohibited. No center-drive systems. Wheelie bars are prohibited.

ENGINE
4 and 6 cylinder 2 or 3 rotory import engines allowed. 8, 10, or 12 cylinders must be naturally aspirated. Domestic compact cars limited to 4 cylinder. No air-cooled engines allowed. Motor swaps allowed as long as stays within same manufacturer.

POWER ADDERS
Turbochargers, Superchargers, and Nitrous Oxide Systems permitted in any combination.

DRIVETRAIN AND TRANSMISSION
FWD, AWD, or RWD allowed. Stock driveline configuration must remain. Straight axles prohibited.

EXHAUST
Open exhaust prohibited. Excessively loud exhaust prohibited (determined at IFO tech's discretion).

TIRES
Slicks permitted for FWD only (25.0 limit). Any DOT approved tires required for AWD and RWD vehicles.

Glad to see the 62 mm rule. If you have a 67 should be in FWD. thumbs up cliff.

also on the exhaust rule your asking about. i think what gets people confused is the word EXHAUST. The turbocharger COUNTS as exhaust, and as cliff said above doesnt matter where it exits.

So what about cars who have to remove the back seat for cage purposes? I would think that safety requirements would over rule in that case...

Run cage through seat. Everyone in the class does it, any car. Or fold seat down.

Alright. For n00bs like myself, it'd be nice to have that the turbo and downpipe count as an exhaust. I was confused about the noise as well.

I'd like to know whether I need full exhaust or not as well... Can you run open downpipe? bumper dumper? Hood Exit?

only exhaust restriction is no open header and can not be excessively loud. We had to take out the muffler rqd rule since some cars stock don't even have muffs. turbo = exhaust

a good rule would be exhaust must exit after rear tire, lets face it a open down pipe car will be lould, and not something a "street" car would have any way

Dumb, if you only knew how many turbo Hondas in Pgh run an open down pipe. Daily!

I car with a rear exhaust can be louder then An open down pipe!

I've been waiting for a 62mm class for the past 4 years! Sounds like a blast!

62mm class is going to be awesome and will make that class so much more competative and the trickle effect will help the other classes. My only question is how will this be tech'd? Are you just going to take peoples word on the fact that they have a 62mm when they could actually have a 67?

I run a hood exit exhaust and drive it around town here in Ohio, so I too am against the exhaust out of the rear.

62MM is plenty for this class; but how will that be verified?

verified the same way as FIP and FWD... when protested. We're not going to measure every single car, but any that are in question will be checked, just let me or Micah know.

So what about headlights that are mounted to the car, but are gutted for intake duct purposes? Is that still legal in the street class?
