power shifting
just trying to figure out how much added wear and tear would powershifting to my tranny. i'm a low budget racer and need all the info i can get before i go and tear up my tranny.

It's going to put more stress on your tranny (collars and synchros) anytime you shift fast as apose to shifting slow but if your tranny is okay to begin with then you'll be just fine. That's when full throttle shift/ignition cuts (built into some EMS and ignitions) are nice as they help to unload the tranny between shifts.

i messed up my first trany by doing pawer shift (1 yr). i got a brand new trany (type r) ive been using it for almost a year and it still shifts good.

I don't really like powershifting, I like to get my tires hooked back up as soon as possible. All my friends powershift and they have no problems so I say go for it if thats what you like.

Power shifting will ultimately break your tranny its just a matter of time. If your are on a low budget I would suggest just shifting conventional until you get some cash to be able to support breaking stuff.

What kind of settings do you recommend for the aem ems ignition cut? Im kinda nervous to rev through it especially when I have the initial limiter set at 9500.

one time i powershifted from 1-2 and then my shifter popped out of the bushing...luckily i was only a mile away from home so i drove home and checked it out..
i found out that the long bolts that held my shifter bushing in place moved ALOT.
about a 40 degree angle, weird. my friends think that it might have been the vibrations since i have those prothane bushings...but if you're gonna powershift and smash it into gear, be careful and check that out once a month.

Sorry, I actually have never played with the AEM ignition cut/anti-lag so I really don't know what "settings" would be best. You might try talking with Tyler (Tyler's profile!) as he'd be a lot more knowledgable with the AEM than I. With most of the cars Scott and I build we just wire in an ignition cut over the MSD which isn't the greatest but seems to work fine.
