Well it is what it is and we cant change the fact that NOPI pulled out. What "WE" as a Sport Compact community around the US is we need to not throw in the towel and fight for what we love to do. Like I said, we all need to show up and run at our local tracks as often as we can to show those tracks that we are not going away just because a Company did. And show them that it was not because of us letting them down.

I hope so. I really look forward to the NOPI nats when they come to VMP, but now, I have nothing to look forward to. BOTI, come to VA, haha!

As a manufacturer it was hard to attend a show and send customers their way to buy our product only to watch them try to bait n switch with their own branded goods.

imo this is great news, now there will be 1 national series which will result in better turnouts, better payouts, and some awesome racing

cant wait for next season

you know im surprised i never ran into you , i think Joey Redmond said you were there last year i think and i never got a chance to make it over cause we were in the finals of the Drift Series.

But having worked for NOPI, yeah that was their biggest problem. We wouldnt stock ANYTHING unless it was their Nopi #1 crap.

When i ran the Smyrna store i pushed to get stuff in that people wanted. I sold some of the first sets of the Phantom Grip Rockers, Skunk2 PRO cams when they came out, etc. People in the company had no idea what that stuff was or what it was for because it didnt have NEON or LIGHT in its description.

I pushed competition clutch to a ton of people.

I hooked up so many people from Rocket to DonF to boostfed, Kteller, D-Rob, the list goes on and on.

But unfortunetly, i was 1 guy, the rest of the company is run by old, out of touch, has beens that make too much money, and think that the public still wants HKS and Greddy.

NOPI flurished during the ricer F&F days, then when that crowd matured, they had no clue what to do. I fought tooth and nail to get new vendors and to push reputable people like Eibach, Ferrea, Skunk2, Competion, Sparco, etc. But if nopi doesnt make their 20% markup, they dont give a **** about anything.

Too often i had poeple say they wanted springs, id try to talk them into something and they would say "i saw the nopi springs for $65 online"

LOL

I mean its possible to sell competing products and still present the information to the customer that is not detrimental to your vendors.

Fact is 90% of the work force at nopi had no idea what they were selling , most of them were ricers, most of them were kiss *** corporate wanna bes.

I quit, an my store shut down a year later so that was kind of comforting to know. Sales dropped 40% after i left lol.

NOPI has never cared about its vendors, the customer, or their employees. This market just changed way to fast and they couldnt keep up.

Good riddance

/rant

Did NOPI have to pay any sort of a deposit to reserve their scheduled days? Maybe we can all work together and see if we can get something going to replace the canceled events?

From what has been going around, that is already in the works. NH is a no go, but I know that Garry from NHRA is trying to do something like they did for the RMR event.

Let us pray

ok here is my opinion the BOTI thing and the attitude of the SCDRA or whatever that group is that didnt back the majority of the racers in the biggest national series should not come here with the I told you so attitude. the decision to run NDRA for most was the sponsor dollar and exposure. For you guys being for the racers you sure do down everyone who isnt doing as you want them too.

I wont support the NHRA if my life depended on it now. they sold to a company that they reassured us would keep the series in good hands and it wasnt. They saw the paper work and knew ahead of time NDRA couldnt keep its head above water with the burden placed on it with the NHRA series being bought out. so instead of them listening to the racers and building a series around them they shaded out and sold out.

NDRA listened to the racers but couldnt afford the hole they got in from what I understand. They appealed to the biggest groups and got domestic and import cars of all sizes and shapes to race and the drivers to become friends(10 years ago that wouldnt have been possible). I am not saying NDRA isnt to blame cause they are for sure, but BOTI and NHRA had a hand in this too.

Im glad I didnt dump money into this season and working my butt off to get to races cause obviously it wouldnt have been worth it.

so in closing:

to BOTI ball rides(I dont car how long you have been around and supporting the sport)

NHRA for selling us down the river

for getting a community of racers to support you and sponsors to pad your wallets then stab them all in the back

Someone mentioned to me that NOPI had to pay a large amount of money ($10,000) to NHRA for each event. Since it was in the contract they decided to file chapter 11 and get out of it since it was not profitable any longer. I normally don't post rumors but each one I heard months before turned out to be true.

On another note, can BOTI hold an event at Englishtown since Etown is an NHRA track? How does that work?

I have my doubts on BOTI becoming a huge series. They may want to "step up" But there expectation on stepping up, is just the hope that Big names in the now ex Nopi series
will race there series.. This will not happen
trust me unless they step up with there payouts period!

the last 4 BOTI races on the west coast are all NHRA tracks. that is no issue. there is no conflicting issues with BOTI hosting events at NHRA tracks.

I'm sure Frank has been on the phone with sponsors ensuring the longevity of BOTI. He's planning for a great 09!!!!

thats true, it sucks for anyone running the series that it happened now rather than in the off season.

i didnt prepare to run nopi this season because i obviously havent been happy w/ them for a few years now due to the decisions they made in the past and the way they held the events. i chose not to support them and im glad i didnt

i do believe boti will be an awesome series to run. i have been racing for close to 10 yrs. now and have seen the differences between nopi and boti first hand. nopi may have been the much larger series, but boti has always been true to drag racing. racing is what boti is about because they themselves are racers, unlike the fools who were running the nopi show.

im excited to see what boti has instore for next season

I dont think anyone wished for a sanctioning body to just up and fold mid season... It actually shocked me when they decided to cancel the 2 events at first. I thought they would stick it out and finish the year with their most popular events. I think its wrong the way they did it. But is there really a right way?

Remember when they were all on the net at the beginning of the year ranting and raving that they were "Top Notch" and that there was nobody at their level. They talked a big game to persuade alot of the teams that were on the fence not really knowing which way to go. Then they made it look like NOPI was the way to go. I honestly dont think that NOPI had it all together from the start but they were banking that more people swung towards them.

It really sucks for all of the Eastcoast racers that depended on them. But I can tell you this. Battle of the Imports is not too happy about this either. This just puts more weight on their shoulders to travel more next year. Will they do it? No doubt! BOTI is not a huge company. So for the handful of employees that means they will spend alot less time at home with thier families next year.

I didnt like the way NOPI said that they wont some to the West because there is no money in it for them. There are alot of people that have waited years to have a NOPI event on the West. They got into the Drag racing scene and thought that it would be just like their Mini Truck events.. Ooops.

So I dont know why you blame BOTI for NOPI going under. BOTI has been doing the same thing year after year. More racers = bigger payouts.

In case some of you are too young to remember, BOTI use to run at Englishtown every year.
