Need help addressing traction issues, Turbo DA integra 23x9x13
Cutting to the chase, my 60ft is terrible, I cannot get my car to hook up at the track under any circumstances, Not sure why. hoping someone can shed some light on my issue.
Car- DA Integra coupe full weight,
2650lbs
YS1 Gsr trans Open differential
Mugen NZ coilovers
All polyurethane bushings
B20b, Evo 8 16G Turbo. Est- 300hp/275ft/lbs
23.0x8x13 M&H Slicks
So far on these new slicks my best 60ft is a 1.94 followed by a 1.98, and a 2.00
Tires are down to 7-8psi and the car is being preloaded out of the hole,
Before this I was running a 22x8x15 which feels like a softer compound that i was cutting better 60's with. (even when the car was NA actually) i was around a 1.90 sixty.
All burnouts were in 2nd gear, with the open diff favoring the Passenger side.
Is there something that can be done or have I reached the point where the car's weight is stopping me from progressing.
Edit- Transmission stuff, I went from a 22 to a 23, to try and trap in 4th gear at 8000rpm, It didnt quite make it, I make it to about 1150ft and need to grab 5th. the 12.58 pass was ran out in 5th gear, thinking about going to an ls 4th .966 compared to the 1.107 that is in there currently.

How much boost are making to come off the launch? There are a lot of things to look at, going to a wider wheel as you did increased your contact patch this might be hooking more but doing have enough power to leave the hole.

Out here at atco, they have the track prepped for outlaw cars and is nice and tacky. Tires up at 10psi
60ft- 1.829
1/4 12.387 @107.56
Best pass to date. Just been doing longer and longer burnouts and bringing the tires back to life.

Went with the john force approach to my burnout. Results showed!
60ft-1.771
12.33@109.
Shifted into 5th this run instead of winding 4th gear and hitting limiter around 1250ft.
Lost .05 between 1000ft and 1/4mile.
Going to try a 3rd gear burnout

Nice to see more DA's hitting the drag strips. Have you ever though about taking some weight out?

I think whats killing my 60's is the fact that I slip the clutch for the first foot or two when I leave, If i were more aggressive with my clutch release i could probably pick up a good amount of time.
Time shot, open diff decided not to play along, 1.749 60, 12.36
First Round, on the brakes hard up top.

Now that I am looking at the video I can see I am grabbing 2nd gear right at 50-60ft mark.
would it be beneficial to go to a longer first gear or FD, or just go to a taller tire, i have an ls transmission just sitting around I can toss in

hum.... what clutch do you have?
you have a front traction bar for that da?
I'm a noob driver and I hit 1.66-1.7 with my 2400lb ef but have 24.5x8.5...
Maybe just have a more experiance driver give it a go to see if with your current setup you can consistantly get better 60ft. For me, I just had to see first hand how the car should feel like leaving the line properly to know it could be done. Shortly after that (10 passes or so)... i went from 1.9-2.0 to 1.6-1.7
hope that helps.
Good job with the build too!

Competition Clutch stage (was told its a stage 1 but doesnt act like one) holds almost 300 ft/lb In all gears, I have the factory radius arms with energy suspension bushings through the whole car, i dont get wheel hop at all or anything

I havent had a good test and tune session to really dial in the car, 3 passes here, 4 passes there. I went from 2.0's down to 1.7s in a day, i just think there is more left. Im more worried about the consistency of my 60's I am a bracket racer at heart. Won bracket 2 at honda day a few other stick shift bracket races etc. I am pretty sure my clutch release routine is whats causing the slow 60's, to be how they are. I think I could slip it alot less and really lean on the tires harder at the hit instead of rolling the first foot or so taking up the clutch.
When I get my daily back drivable ill get more aggressive
Good job with the build too!
Thanks, probably Going external gate and getting it retuned for more boost soon!

Re: Need help addressing traction issues, Turbo DA integra 23x9x13
problem solved jk
gotta go 100% all the time... if your still getting 1.8 60ft then look for others for advice.
for now you can't go 100% if you worried about it being your dd, so that's understandable.
if your clutch is holding 300lbs tq i doubt it's a stage 1 clutch... but you won't know until you open it up. I would, just to "know" what i'm working with so that i know how hard i can ride the clutch if needed.

The clutch is iffy. I got the clutch fly wheel and pressure plate used for cheap and the disc is a full organic disc but yet I have yet to slip the clutch with torque. Factory freak maybe.
Ill keep pushing the car. Like they say if you arent breaking things you arent trying hard enough

what transmission are you using. only trans i could see that would top out at 110ish. with a 8000 limiter was a 98-01 itr trans. even a b16 trans will go 112. and the only trans ive ever seen shift before the 60ft was a 98-01 itr trans.

Ys1 gsr
4.40 final and a 3.307 first gear.
Looking at the ratios , it has a shorter first then a usdm itr trans. Then 2nd-
4th are identical.
Thinking of switching over to an ls 3.23 first gear and a ls .966 4th gear. I have all the parts plus new synchronizer to go in.
Should get my 60fts consistent and trapping in 4th gear.

Re: Need help addressing traction issues, Turbo DA integra 23x9x13
Didnt realize the ys1 was that short. never really messed with cable transmissions. I'd definitely try the ls first gear. If you could get a hold of a hydro gsr s80 4th gear, looks like it would work better. The ls 4th seems like it would be a bit too long. Tops out at 132 at 8000 rpm. hope this helps, and the best of luck
