a portable radio should not be on every race teams list of necessary tool. if the tracks pa is junk that is their problem and they should deal with it not expect the racers to bring radios....

let me ask you this if you checked into your hotel and there was dirt all over the carpet and you complained about it... how would you feel if the lady at the front desk told you "sorry our vacumm is broken so bring your own vacuum if you want it cleaned".... you would never stay there again and you would probably write someone a letter.

IFO is the only race we all have and i dont want to see it go down hill

he got to go in because he was the one who bitched the loudest! better luck to you next time. I dont care that he got to go in first im glad he got the people to get their **** together and start letting us in we are all there for the same race it doesnt matter who gets in first.</TD></TR></TABLE>

I was also bitching, along with everyone else up front, when Tony just pulled in off the street and in front of every single one of us racers who were conveniently lined up ready to be let in.

Upon asking why he gets preferential treatment, I was told he was a sponsor. I let the guy know T1 is not listed as a sponsor of this event and it's BS that he is getting let in first.

Like I said before, if preferential treatment starts at the gate, then where does it stop?

So what do you think? You think they play with the lights to let me win too? lol

Look, do your part in helping the scene, showing up to races, helping promote and put things together, and maybe you'll get noticed to. Sometimes life isn't fair and people get "special" treatment, there's usually a reason why. You'll be much better off in life if you don't let it bother you and continue doing your thing.

lol at playing with the lights.

Thanks for the advice.

My point is in order for IFO to keep growing, they need to remain professional. This means not playing favorites or hooking your buddies up (at least keep from doing it out in the open in front of everyone)

Take it how you want it, but IMO it's a bad idea to give preferential treatment to anyone in an event like this.

You think some racers don't get preferred treatment at NHRA races?

As much as i hate to say it, when you've made a name for yourself you sometimes get a little preferred treatment.

Let me ask you this, did you have any input on putting this race together? Did you spend any time on the phone bouncing ideas around to make this big? Did you do anything to deserve any preferred treatment?

I think its more base on the attitude you come with to the races. Positive reinforcement brings preferred treatment where ever you go.

I understand what you are saying but it doesn't make it right. I assume everyone is paying Customers (racers), so they should be afforded the same type of treatment.

But I do understand the Jordan Rules.

What was this topic supposed to be about, I lost track?

We all know preferential treatment happens from time to time, whether intentional or not. But the way you got to cut in front of everyone else demonstrated a great deal of unprofessionality on the part of whoever was in charge of the entrance.

Your questions to me ask what have I done to deserve special treatment as if I am asking for special treatment. I ask for none for myself and none to be given to others. My guys have supported IFO over time by attending events just like you have. I don't believe we deserve any special treatment as I don't believe you deserve any.

If you want to get in first, you should get there first.

It is what it is man. Sorry your upset about it. We had 2 race cars, a big trailer, 2 tents to setup, and a lot of stuff to get ready. I wasn't going to wait in the middle of the highway for 2 hours. Again, sorry you're upset about it.

Did you go talk to the people in charge and express your concerns about getting in and ready on time or did you only bitch about it after i did?

Im sure with events like this, people has things pre arranged, so don’t make it a huge deal. but I do see how it would upset some people. I personally wouldn’t have and any problem unless I was under a timeline, and if so I would talk with them to see if I could squeeze in before the rest also, all you have to do is ask in a professional manner im sure they would have done the same.

I talked to the people in charge of the entrance before you even got there. I was nice to them and explained to them we had trailers and needed to be ready for qualifying, just as all the other racers did. They told me they would let the sponsors in first, then the racers, then everyone else.

When you pulled in off the street my guys already knew what was about to happen. I asked the people in charge of the entrance why you were being let in before us, who have been patiently waiting. The reply I got was that you sponsored the event and could come in first. I told them I was pretty sure you are not a sponsor and you are a racer just like we are. I told them it was pretty messed up how they handled the situation.

I was pretty cool about the situation, but I could tell others were pretty pissed. I brought it up to some of the real sponsors at the event and also wanted to address the situation on here.

Whether I'm right or wrong is really a subjective issue. I believe what I believe and give support for why I believe this way. I feel it's right to voice my view on the matter so the organizer of the event can get some feedback and determine if any changes should be made.

FWIW, I, nor any of the people that were with me, said we were sponsors of the event. I can see where that would **** some people off if i said i was a sponsor to get in the gate, and that did not happen. I simply talked to the people in charge and did what i was told to do.

mikesrex, I don't know anything about the "preferential treatment, but will apologize on behalf of who ever was helping racers get in that day. It wasn't me or IFO staff, but Tulsa crew that helped put the event together. We were busy getting TRP staff to open up the second gate. If didn't raise hell that morning, TRP would of only had 1 gate the entire day. Even though not all were happy, still a very special thanks to the Tulsa crew for helping get racers in that morning.

At the end of the day, the race is over with.Im sure Cliff and all others learned for future races. Cliff has said he was sorry so many times, why keep bitching about it.
Instead make a point and move on, sure tony cut the whole line. Ive done it before! This was the 1st event in Tulsa im sure they will know for future events!
Get over it, there is nothing that can be done now to fix it!!!

First off I want to thank Cliff,Mike G,Alex and everyone else for bringing a kick *** race to Tulsa . I got to the track Sunday and thought HOLY S*^^(T look at this . Tulsa has never had support for the import crowd and I think the IFO has opened their eyes .

I have read ALL these post and have a few things to say
I'm not sure on the gate opening question it was open when I got there @ 10 am .And BOTH front gates were open BUT we had cars lined up for 2 miles so I had to have them open a 3rd gate for spectators .

As for people being let in before others our main focus was getting racers and sponsors in ASAP . We can NOT help who tells us they are a sponsor and are not . It is not our job to determine or argue if they are sponsors or not . The main thing we ran into at the gate was the kids who would not park in the spectator entrance so that we could get sponsors and racers in . I had 1 guy try to start a fight with on of our volunteers because he was holding up 2 race cars and would NOT park with the other spectators .

I my self took it in my own hands to walk down before EVERY round and let people know on the top they were being called and also that they could tune in on the track radio station . You cant control mother nature and lighting striking so that is what we did in lieu of some speakers not working . Seems some racers were more worried about watching the show on the stage instead of racing .

I know how much work everyone put in to this race and I know TRP has learned from this event also . We apologies for any issues we had and PROMISE next year will be HUUUUUUUGE .I met alot of cool cats and seen some BAD *** imports and 1 crazy beetle bug lol

that's pretty fucked up that you said what mike have any input putting this race together.....especially coming from you, mike and my crew brought out 3 cars from houston (2sfwd cars, and 1 all motor car), let just said that we've spend over 3 grands just to bring the 3 cars to this event (gas for 3 trucks, racegas, plugs, oil dyno times, hotel, food, etc....), I don't know what else is consider "inputs/supports" of the event, I've been to almost every single IFO event just like you, and you know damn well that we didn't go there for the payout but for the pure support of the sport......as far as preferred treatments, INO, we were sitting in front of the gate at 8:50am, then you show up a little after 10am and got in imediately, and one of the guy at the gate have the nerve to lie to mike that you're a sponsor??, I guess that's NOT preferred treatment then, I guess I have to learn how to bitch MUCH louder next time just like alan have said.............if this how IFO treat racers that come to support the event, then I'll pass from now on, not that anyone gives a **** anyway

I hate to be the one to state the obvious here and i'm sure there are those that will call me a nut rider, but people do go to these events to see Tony race... If I am the event promoter and he shows up, I'm gonna let the dude in, maybe even buy him a coke. If you think that is unfair you don't have much experience in life in general, get used to it. Why do u think they let all the hot chicks to the front of the line at the club? Cuz all the guys will wait in line and pay to see them shake that ***... Tony is now laughing his *** off, but i call it like i see it.

that's exactly what happened at the front gate. I'm just some random racer guy that isn't important, so the guy that let you cut in line lied to me and figured I would believe him when he told me you were a sponsor.

I had already discussed with him the gameplan on getting sponsors in first, then racers, then everyone else. And this is why he thought he could get off easy by telling me you were a sponsor.

You what is really funny, you are the one who should be pissed off at this race. You drove to Tulsa for the big payout since you think you had it in the bag. Because of the rainout you only got 500 bucks. I promise you there was at least one car there that was going to make you work for that payout if the rain wouldn've have shut the race down.

Do you think anyone truly thought they could win with you being there? Most of the guys there knew they would lose, though, and went there for the spirit of the event.

At least I still had fun, driving 1200 miles so I could support my guys and support the import scene. Yes I am upset at some things that happened, but overall I had a blast. I got to eat some great food at Flemings in Tulsa, and best of all I got to hang out with my friends while we all worked hard to compete in a sport we love.

IFO is supposed to be by the little guys for the little guys where we have a chance to compete. If we have to deal with favoritism at IFO, we might as well go race at NOPI and other big races where we know we will be treated poorly. I'm pretty sure the organizer of the event wants to have a professional and fair event for us to compete in, though. He will step up to the plate and continue to make IFO the place we want to be in the future.
