Re: How To Get My Setup Into The 12s NA
I would love a type r trans but i have spent a lot of money on the car already just to get this far, so im looking for ( i hate to say it) a less expensive route at this time.. Ive looked over my time slips again and again and with a LSD if i were to pull 1.7s 60' that would put me around the 13.10s. Although my 13.3 run i was still at like 13psi in the slicks so im thinking if i take them down to around 11psi or even 10psi i might be able to do a better 60' launching at the same rpm.. But i figure the car also needs either more power or different gearing.. Im not set of an lsd yet but the car is getting a retune this friday open header and with my new 3in intake. My only question is do you think with my power to weight ratio the car should be trapping like 103 or 104mph instead of only 101.20 mph? Bc then i know the car would be capable of high 12s. And also would maybe the type R final drive raise my MPH and help me accelerate just that little bit harder? Remember i dont have much money to play with anymore (ima broke college kid lol).

I currently have in a stock USDM GSR with Typer cams and a JDM 4-1 header. I street tuned it myself on Hondata S300 but never dynoed it. The car weighs about 2550 w/driver, and did 13.2 @101 mph with a 1.89 60ft, while the car was breaking up on top end from a bad igniter. What I am trying to say is that if I can do more with less parts. then you have the potential to do better with more. Post up you dyno graph if you don't mind.

Practice - Log times in a simple Excel Spreadsheet and I go back and I look at my development - This is on a 1/8th mile set up on a 220hp Hatchback EG - Same power but look at the time difference just based on practice.

And this is what it looked like last year on a daily driven Type R on pump gas - Notice how I have it more detailed now.
1/4 mile 1/8 mile 60ft MPH

Re: How To Get My Setup Into The 12s NA
cheapest easiest way it to adjust tire pressure and launch RPM until you can get your 60' lowered.
Then try to run open header.
Then also see what you can do about weight reduction. rear wheels (Some cheap VX wheels if you can find them in the rear will help also.
you are close just need to work on driving and the things i mentioned. without spending a crapload on a type r trans, or an LSD. you are close enough to hit a 12 without that.
What cams are you running? who ported the head?

Re: How To Get My Setup Into The 12s NA
Bump on the post, have some updates. the car made 191whp on Crower stage 2+ cams when it did 13.368 at MIR. I am now on DDTech stage 1 cams and at 205whp on the same dyno. Weight has dropped to 2340Lbs w/Driver from 2470Lbs w/driver.
So 205whp(dynojet) and 2340Lbs loaded. still have Gsr trans with stock 4.4 final drive and no LSD.. Two friadys ago at capitol raceway the car went 13.378 @ 103.4mph with a 1.801 60'. I thought with that type of sixty foot the car would have surley broke 12s (my 60' at MIR was a 1.866).. Unfortunately the short track at capitol "seems" to be slower than MIR? my 1/8th mile ET was worse at capitol aswell as the 1/8th MPH.. I hope to hit MIR a few more times before the end of the season bc even with similar weather conditions Capitol just seems to be a slower track.?

Okay so full throttle every shift? never thought of that one.. Im thinking about jacking up the rear suspension to put more weight over the front too. and as far as the weight issue eveything is already out of the car except the sunroof under the dash material. no metal has been cut no carbon parts and full glass weighed in at 2270 pounds without me.

If you haven't already, put your intake out of your headlight with a velocity stack. That should easily gain you some mph and get you into the 12 for cheap.
I gained 7 mph and dropped 7 tenths by doing this and that was on a stock B16 so you should see even better results.

Re: How To Get My Setup Into The 12s NA
There are a few guys around the area that run the velocity stack out the front.. I had no idea if this actually worked, or if anybody saw any real world gains in (ET or mph) from this.. I just have a 3in cold air in the bumper at the moment. Also the 13.3 @ 103mph two weeks at Capitol was done with FULL EXHAUST on..

Re: How To Get My Setup Into The 12s NA
I dropped about .3's off my time by getting a 3" cold air and velocity stack. This was my turbo motor with no turbo and was running 14.0's and after tinkering with it got it down to 13.4's.
Sounds to me like you have some nice parts on the motor and I wouldn't change anything but the intake tube. Skunk2 manifolds work very well. I do have a few questions though. How high are you revving the motor? Is it a DD? What engine management do you have?

Re: How To Get My Setup Into The 12s NA
I would suggest getting a B16/ITR trans which has better gearing for N/A. If you have the ability track tune it yourself I would. Don't mess with and of the fuel or ignition maps just play with your launch settings and such. And you might actually be surprised that if your car was tuned with the exhaust that it may run better with it on and working. For a setup like yours (not so high compression and much larger cams) I would keep some sort of exhaust. Do little things like thermal intake gasket and bypassing your coolant lines on the back of the intake mani and TB.
