Hey there. I was makin some runs and it weird. I beat 2 dudes by half a car but they got a faster time. Did they launch better or....I dont know

The timer doesnt start until you leave the start.
So you can sit there for 10 sec and it wont affect your 1/4 mile times. The difference of how long it takes you to trip that beam and start the timer is called the Reaction Time(R/T) on your time slip. So if you sat there for 10 sec or just 1 sec, it'll show a R/T of how long it took you to trip that light once the green light goes on the tree.

aha makes more sense. looks like your pretty good with the track and all that so what would you recommend, burn some clutch from start without burning any tires or burnout in first?
from how I ran, looks like you get better trap at slower time when you burn rubber but i'm for the better time.

You dont want to burn the clutch. You want to heat up the tires if you are on a drag radial or a bias ply, then slightly slip the clutch when you are launching.

People should be required to pass a basic knowledge test of racing before being allowed to do so... just sayin. Its shocking how many people dont know that the time doesnt start until you move.

Literally if you have never raced before and just sit there and watch for an hr I would think the answer to this thread could have been self taught or damn near close... thats all im saying.

At my local track I see some of the stupidest people trying to run down the track, people that cant find the beams, leave on the first amber etc etc it gets flusterating... and sadly enough 75% of the time its a tard in a Honda.

well i'm running regular kumho tires @ normal tire pressure. I dont think there is a point of warming up my tires.

Thats true too. But we learn as we go on the spot. But why do ppl then say to launch at the last yellow light? better 60's...??

To account for the delay the standard human being processes the thought to perform an action with the actual performance of that action. Nothing to do with the run itself other than reaction time.

Please watch before asking anything else:
