How do we level the playing grounds??
Ok to kind of touch where we left off, first while guys like Damien, Tony, and miller may not be directly sponsored, they do have their own shop. Which gives them big breaks over the guys trying to do this out of their garage. Originally the SFWD class was meant for the guys doing it out of their garages. But then a lot of shops got involved and started taking the class to new heights, which is cool cause it showed the potential. But at some point, the guys who the class was intended for just dont have the means to keep up. Sure the fastest car doesnt always win, but how often do they fu(k up,or break, rarely ever if at all. Outlaw is a perfect class for the guys with shops and could give us back the intent of the SFWD. But even still we need to keep it regulated to where everyone can enjoy the class and not get whipped, kind of like pro stock, NHRA keep that class very tight and no one really gets blown away.I just think we need to step in and regulate ourselves cause this sport is very much by us and for us. We basically govern ourselves and we do it kind of poorly.

Re: How do we level the playing grounds??
if i remember correctly NOPI had a similar class. My idea is to try and govern it to where no one can really run away with it like they do in NHRA series. There isnt anything those guys run that NHRA isnt aware of

Re: How do we level the playing grounds??
Just had to respond to this from the other thread...
A) Aren't you "sponsored" by Induction Performance???
B) Aren't you running a turbo >67mm which would make you, oh, OUTLAW
C)Is your car even running right now? Last I saw you were selling your turbo kit etc. to build your fancy 72mm billet whatever it was OUTLAW turbo setup... No?
My car runs, and for being on an incomplete pump gas tune, it runs damn good... All I need is an alignment and a car wash and I'm ready to hit the track. How close are you?

Re: How do we level the playing grounds??
I see you guys point with the indexes and brackets etc... But A) those are not the type of competition I am talking about. Unless I have been misinformed, most of the index classes score you per event, not overall throughout the season etc. etc...
And B) to race in a bracket/index class, you have to have a car that you are already familiar with that runs consistently, and you really have no room to grow and get faster, without stepping up to the next bracket and starting over, which brings me back to the whole points system... That is the appeal of the sportsman classes like true street, it gives us a chance to be competitive and earn points to see where you stand at the end of the season, not just on an event by event basis...

Re: How do we level the playing grounds??
You are correct, outlaw is LIMITED at 72mm inducer dia... If you really wanted to, you could run smaller... Just as T/S is limited at 67mm inducer dia.... Turbo size is really the least of my concern, as the companies are always coming up with new technology and something bigger and badder... My point is simply that there are so many big budget teams, sponsored teams, and shops etc. joining the class, so with that should come more limitations just to keep it fair... Something as simple as setting an index on the class, cutting it off around 9.00... If they don't do that, it's only going to be a matter of time before someone is running 8.50's in a 67mm powered "t/s" car... As long as there are people spending the big bucks for the fancy stuff, the mfgs will continue coming up with more ways to go faster, and leave us lower budget guys in the dust...

Re: How do we level the playing grounds??
i think in ifo the classes are good just need think fis should change rules since i see plenty of street cars that wouldn't be able to run in it. plus the fact that the awd and rwd cars will always be at the top of the class

You guys are a bunch of cry babies. Just go to the track and w.e class you fall into race in that class. You guys are discouraging people who have hopes to compete with there eBay turbo kit. And as sad as it sounds the import racing scene needs everyone it can get.

Re: How do we level the playing grounds??
People need to understand that $$$ plays a major role.... You can support the sport by spectating.... if the budgets doesn't agree with the classes, keep it on the streets
I love seeing the boats race on the offshore Poker Runs.... i can't afford it so ESPN is where its @!

I really like the way that FIS is set up rule wise. There needs to be a place for 400-600 hp cars to run heads up. That is a 10 sec class all day with a well set up car and decent driver. I liked the powerstreet class from Nopi also.
