how do i get sponsored? new to the tree scene
I was wondering how does one get sponsored? Is it after, during, or before the race? I read some of the nhra.com requirements. But it dose not specify HOW to get sponsored.

Spend 50-80K on building a race car. Win events. Travel 4-5 states away to get to races. Get your car in magazines and figure out every way you can promote your car.
Then and only then you may get some discounts to parts from manufacturers.

Only 50-80K, don't forget about truck and trailer. Done all the other stuff too, it helps a little.
Money's tight right now, and nobody is just going to give you money unless your name is John Force.
We do this sport because we love it, not to see what you can get from people.

Tell people who might listen to you what you can do for them and not what they can do for you. Most of the bridges in this scene were burned long ago by people taking and not following through with any return on investment.

and you wonder why no one takes it to the track.
change of mind. f UCK the track. pro street bitches. i dont need a bunch of stuck up *** holes giving a slick response just cause they dont want to give me an honest answer. no wonder things are they way they are. just by reading some of your answers you have answered alot of my questions/thoughts.
might as well as lock up this thread. its no more use.

Re: how do i get sponsored? new to the tree scene
Sorry dood, the truth hurts man. Its not about being stuck up and not giving you the answers you want.
Alot of us have put 20-40K to build our first car, years ago. Then things changed 2 years later and we had to go faster, another 15K to redo the car. Fast forward 3 more years and our car is outdated, had to redo it and build a new motor, dropped another 15K. Now to compete, our car is outdated again. To even get to the level where you can even get a slightest look by manufacturers to just get a discount, I'm looking at spending another 20K to get it back to being competitive.
You wanna go fast? You can't do it for free. We take our cars to track because its too fast for the street. Pro-Street cars as you say it arent fast enough to get even get a look from sponsors. Stay on the street and you'll never get recognition. You'll forever be just a street racer and you'll be nobody. Take it to the track, keep going and get recognition and thats when you'll start making a name for yourself and getting hooked up from sponsors, etc.
You got a bad attitude about it to begin with. People have put their blood sweat and tears for almost a decade to finally get recognition. Its not overnight homie. Doesnt work that way.
You gotta pay your dues.
You wanted an honest answer, and this is it. Sorry its not what you expected to hear. Its not easy man. There's no for sure way to get help in this sport. You gotta put in your work first. Get in line, there's 1000s of hardcore racers trying to get the same deal you are looking for.

And with an attitude like that you will never succeed. On or off the track. .
Think of it like this -
Somebody sponsoring you is giving you something for free. What is their return on investment ? The benefit of sponsoring someone is to hopefully stir up excitement about their product that can lead to more sales . .
What excitement, what knowledge, what experience, what RESULTS - do you bring to the table that would make people want to go buy the products on your car ?
If you can answer all of those questions truthfully, within an intelligent, well put together business plan that showcases it all . . . .
Then you are ready to start LOOKING for sponsors. . .
Until then, I suggest you get to work. .

The responses above ARE an honest answer.. Your competing against people who have been in this sport for 10 years, and have probably put out over 100k easy.. And now you want them to tell you how to take sponsorship money that THEY cant even get?? are you really that stupid?

I do not recommend this BUT it seems to work for alot of people. Visa, Master Card, American Express can all become great sponsors.

I got another way to do it. Open up a shop. Sell about 50-100K of a manufacturer's product a year and I'm sure they'll hook you up with parts for your own car.

Nobody is "shitting" on you. It is not easy to get help in this industry. People think you build a car and automatically get sponsors. Well I have no sponsors and if you figure out how to do it let me know.

Re: how do i get sponsored? new to the tree scene
Seriously, I came in here with an open mind thinking an intelligent person might be asking a legitamate question. However, within maybe 1/2 a second I read the name of the user, the location, and the signature and I was completely displeased with what I read.
I could have been your next sponsor. I'm not, but you just never know who is watching you thinking you could be the next John Force. You represent yourself very badly. You represent your state extremely bad. And with your verbage on this website, you are now representing OUR sport extremely bad. Tell me why anyone would want to take interest in you?
Please take a step back and read this thread very carefully, because even though you represent yourself so ignorantly, people on here are still willing to help you. Very important people I might add...-People that could actually change their mind of you and actually want to sponsor you.

Re: how do i get sponsored? new to the tree scene
Its not that no one wants to tell you what to do, its because we dont really know ourselves. All we know is you gotta put in some work and make a difference out there. Thats what sponsors want.
What else is there to say. You didnt want to hear what we had to say, but it is the truth and you just can't admit it to yourself that we're saying the right things.
If you have any other ideas, we sure would like to know because, we all want to get help ourselves.
