got bored and made my own intake(again)!!!
well i've been bored lately so i decided to make another intake for my allmotor b20vtec ek hatch. i have a headlight scoop that i made a couple years ago for the track and a street intake with a velocity stack that goes in the same location as my new intake. reason for building this intake is that i had everything laying around except the vband assembly, my headlight scoop takes alot of time and effort to switch out at the track, and this new intake will outperform my old street intake with the velocity stack. all intakes are 3" piping and this new intake will be my full time street/strip intake. i do all my own fab work except weld. i will post time slips and hopefully vids as soon as i can get to the track. my fastest time on my headlight scoop using 22x8x13 M/T's is 12.53@106mph and my fastest time with my old street intake with velocity stack(ran in the same location as my new intake) using 185x60x13 hoosier r6 radials is 13.3@103mph(but this was a while go with less hp&tq). the aeromotive sticker is covering a hole!!!

Re: got bored and made my own intake(again)!!!
havent driven it yet. i put it on a couple of hours ago and its raining right now. as far as feel, i dont drive the car enough and hardly ever get on it on the street to compare this from my old street intake, but i may do a pull to se how it feels for the heck of it, before going to the track. but i will be comparing it to my headlight scoop at the track. if it performs very close to headlight scoop or outperforms it(which i dont think it will), its a win for me. the whole purpose of this intake was to replace my headlight scoop, which takes time to install and take off at the track and its kinda a pain in the *** and perform pretty close to the headlight scoop. i will post track results as soon as i can.

that determine that but ive had success with this same design intake with a velocity stack instead of a scoop. I am gonna make more of these using 3.5" as well and I may do a test to se which one performs better.

my fastest 1/8 mile times are in the 7.9's@85mph 1.7 60ft's with my old headlight scoop. went to the track yesterday with great success, with the new intake scoop I was able to run a 7.9@85mph 1.7 60ft. my tuner Vspec1 said the afr's were very close, pretty much spot on between both scoops, and thanks for the awesome tuning as always. soo in the end it was a success. my goal was to have a more convient intake that was permanent and run just as fast as my old headlight scoop.

I think that is for the track only. The headlight scoop was too much trouble to install at the track. This one should be easier to install and remove at the track. That's the way I understood it.

The whole intake stays in place on the car just have it unhooked from throttle body while running around on the street.
