gary vs. sean

gary vs. sean
we all know that sean was the first to claim the unibody record years ago. he also went 8's years ago.
sean is planing on taking the talon out again.
and we all of course, OF COURSE, WE ALL KNOW VERY WELL WASUP WITH GARY AND HIS BEAUTIFULL RED CIVIC.
he just ran a sick time of 8.4 i believe if i am not mistaken. his car is also a unibody.
who do we all think is most likeley to end up with the unibody record by the end of summer time???
i kno that gary is reading this and his imput would be great. and even tho the other guy might not admit it, i'm pretty confident sean glazar will probably be reading this. therefore sean, even tho we all know that this is a honda forum and you are considered a mitsu god. your imput in here would also be very well welcomed.
hope this thread turns out interesting, informative, and as a damn good hype up for the 2004 SEASON THAT IS ABOUT TO START. YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHH.

Re: gary vs. sean (ModenaTwinTurbo)
depends on weight. if theoretically they had to run at the same weight, assuming each car gets a clean run w/ no breakage, sean would kill gary. if gary is allowed to weigh like a kite as all hot rod cars are, and sean has to carry a lot more weight, then gary would be almost impossible to beat.

Re: gary vs. sean (poorguy)
It would be a great race Sean's car hauls *** just think if he could put that power in a FWD. Right now they are like cars from different classes because the Talon weighs so much.

i would love to see this!
both guys are very strong competators and the only way to find out is to see it in action.
Its also good to see that this forum (drag racing) has a diversity of different car lovers so no one is bias to choosing the honda nor the mitsu!
lol soon someone will be talking about us Ed to see whos the fastest

Re: gary vs. sean (jdmchop)
This is a great topic. Sean is a great racer, I have been racing with him for years along with Brent Rau and Mike Crawford. They are all good guys. It would not be right to match us up for a race. In the past we have all had real bad transmission problems. In the 2004 season Gardella Racing decided to go with an A/M trans. I know Sean's car would be alot faster then the red rocket but he is so limited to a trans. I remember he used to change it after every pass. And its alot harder then changing a Honda trans. If he did get an A/M trans I don't think I would have a chance. But maybe he has something up this sleeve.

There is a new trans setup for the AWD guys this year, hopefully we'll see it hold up, but it definitely looks promising. Its another great innovation from Marco @ Magnus

Re: gary vs. sean (GaryG)
I'd still bet on the red rocket. Besides the weight the AWD adds a whole bunch
of drag. Add another 10% loss to the wheels.
Have to say this, I've never seen any car launch like Sean used to! Front tires
almost off the ground.

What organization would allow all wheel drives to go against FWD,
The only one is IDRC but I don't think anyone is going to race IDRC????
Anyways, my bet would be on Gary because FWD's are 60 fotting just as good if not better than the AWD Talon's of back in the day and the FWD are bustin some mean power now....on top of that FWD are way lighter. My bet is on Gary in fact I predict for Hot Rod class this year it will either be
Gary Gardella
Kenny Tran
Marty Ladwig
Hot Rod Champion

Re: (bambooluv)
gary obviously has the proven setup that has run a better number and that number will only get better this year. sean definatly has the potential if you think about it. his car ran an 8.8 or 8.9 back in 2001. since then weve seen an 8.7 from a STREET CAR on DRAG RADIALS. i guess it would depend on weight as well as drivetrain reliabilty. my moneys still on gary though.
