Flatout head gaskets to 1000HP
My stepdad races a crx in the Dominican Republic and wants to break into sub 9.5 territory. He has been running heavy boost, but now his old turbine is on the way out and hes upgrading that. He wants to go from 33 PSI on the old Precision turbo 65/65 to 45 PSI on the new one, which he hasnt picked yet .
He has a dart 1.8 block at 85mm it is not o-ringed, and he has been running these head gaskets fine at 33PSI and producing 800hp, running a 9.7, probably quicker in the US since our track is not very good, international cars tend to be .1-.3 slower than their avg. times. He now wants more power through a bigger turbo and was wondering if the block not being o ringed would cause issues with these gaskets or not.

this is the car and some pictures, he is also asking if anyone knows more about how the GPS function on the AMS1000 boost controller works, because hes controlling traction through the boosts controller, but we've heard GPS guided engagement through MPH might be better. Any resources for info on the boost controller are appreciated.

Having an o ring always makes it seal up a little better but it isnt neccissary. You dont need to replace head gaskets only time you do is when something goes wrong usually detonation of some sort.

Re: Flatout head gaskets to 1000HP
Thanks a lot for the input, i figured if they were good at 700hp they should be safe for a bit more.
And thanks for the tip on the boost controller after i read the manual i figured out GPS mode wasn't actually satellite GPS as we thought, but just a Gear position sensor, so it wouldn't provide any real benefit over out time based setting.

Is the block step decked?
If not, you will most likely have an issue with it sealing unless your head and block surface are down to a very low RA.
I know on the Evo's and DSM's since they are not step decked we have to get it down to a 0RA to get it to seal over 900whp.

we've been using JE's fully SS HG with the block being O ringed and its been working GREAT. Numerous low 8 second passes and the gasket looks great.
