Default Fastest Toyota vehicle/SHOCKED!

So I'm at the local test and tune tonight and I see a 3rd generation RAV4 killing it running back to back to back 13.6x passes @ 100 mph......and find out it's nearly stock! I was very intrigued so I went up to the guy in the staging lanes to find out it's a 2010 V6/AWD automatic and the only modifications are a set of lightweight 17" wheels with Pirelli street tires, cold air intake and full exhaust system. No aftermarket tuning, no tranny or engine modification, no weight reduction,
(other than the wheels) etc. My jaw was dropped.
It was also super concistant, as the three passes Ive watched him run within a 40 minute period were all within a tenth of a second ET and half a mph trap speed of each other. He also told me he was running low 14's with the little truck bone stock. I then got to thinking, this thing is probably the quickest vehicle in Toyotas modern lineup, and it baffles me. Perhaps the Camry V6 may be slightly faster from the factory, as they share the same engine and the Camry is a little lighter than the Rav, but I think the AWD launch of the Rav was a big part of the quick ETs as well, so the FWD Camry might not be any faster. Regardless, it got me thinking that a boosted RAV4 would make an awesome street sleeper, or even throwing a 59-75 shot of nitrous onto an intake/exhaust Rav would have 12s on your doorstep and no one would ever suspect it. Don't know if anyone else is as interested as I was, but I was shocked in a good way and felt compete to share.

They are quick, I've had a few as used cars at work in service and always take them for a rip. For a stock vehicle they work well, but it's a small SUV, my Ford F150 crew cab 4x4 with the ecoboost ran 14.20s stock and since have done some modifications but it works really well for a new vehicle. FYI my stock 1990 5.0 Mustang ran a 14.66 way back in the 90s, pretty crazy that my heavy 4x4 is faster and shows how far technology has come. I have since lifted my truck, have 33" All terrains, but have a catback, intake and tune and with a full box of tools, jack, fuel, etc all tucked under the tonneau cover it will still do low 14s just hitting the gas in drive at the track. It's our tow rig but fun to rip on it every once in a while and put those Hemi trucks in their place...lol.

Lol Jealous! I have a 2013 FX4 SuperCrew but with the Coyote V8. Wish I would have got the Ecoboost. I test drove a 14 XLT SuperCrew with 4x4 and the Ecoboost before I bought my 13 leftover and could tell it had more power, but the price I got on this truck fully loaded with the FX4 package sold me. I'm regretting it now though, because I'm only seeing 14-15 mpg with my 5.0, and will get SMOKED by a simple intake/tune Ecoboost on the street. Granted I'm stock with just an SCT 87 tune, it isn't even close. This truck probably has low 15s in it at best. I'm on stock 20" FX4 wheels with 275 Pirelli scorpions and factory 3:55
Gears. Thinking about doing K&N intake and 3:73s in search of some slightly better MPGs for the type of driving I do. I can see 20+ no problem on a long highway trip, but my to and from work mix speed trips have me around 14.5 pretty much constantly right now, which is up from 13.2 on the stock tune. This is on 87 octane gasoline. If I run E85 mileage goes down to around 10-11 lol

As for the Toyota though, I was just shocked that a run of the mill automatic all wheel drive SUV could turn mid 13's with no tuning at all and just a simple intake/exhaust. The lighter wheels im sure makes a big difference, as he said he lost nearly 130lbs of rotating mass from the stock wheel and tire package to the ones he's running. Regardless though, I just didn't expect a simple intake/exhaust RAV4 to keep pace with or beat bolt on WRXs, 370Zs, Si/RSXs etc. so it caught me by surprise. I guess if you look at the numbers though it makes sense, somewhat.
Stock rating for the 3.5 V6 is 270 HP/255tq, weighs ~3,500 and stays AWD until 25mph then goes FWD so that's great for drag type race.
