Hi, my name is Andrew, I am from New Zealand and this is my DC2 Integra:



The car is a pretty important part of NZs import scene, from 12s in 1999 to 9s in 2003 it was constantly one of the fastest fwds in Australasia.

I've had it for 3 years and hit the track for the first time last weekend



Setup is super cheap that I threw together from parts I had lying around:

B18C/B16A (worth about $200)
Blox 'Type R' intake manifold with 70mm throttle body
Hytech rep exhaust manifold
Exedy Twin Plate
96 Spec ITR gearbox
Insane Shafts
22x8x15 MTs

Then on the return road the crank pulley fell off, very lucky it didnt happen at 8500rpm on the track.

I can't remember if I had touched the crankshaft at all (I replaced the big ends) but there is every possibilty it was only on finger tight or something.

At this stage I am happy to have the car on the track doing laps, I'm confident I can get into the 12s with the stock motor but if at the end of the season (march) I'll throw some nitrous at it out of boredom heh.

I have some parts for a turbo motor that I will build during the off season: 81x89 grout filled block, stock port head with Ferrea comp gear, 6262 - aiming for 9.50s out of that setup.

How much does it weigh?

When it was raced in the early 2000s it had a class rule of 850kg (1870lbs) with driver which it was bang on.

I'm a bit heavier than he was but have less motor in there so I'm guessing around 1900lbs

Went 13.459 @ 99.86 on Saturday, ET is dropping but I got 99.97mph, so close to to the hunnit!

Leaving the line at 8500rpm and it's bogging down to 4500rpm, I had the 22x8 MTs at 7psi and pumped them up to 14 and it was still bogging but did a 1.901 60ft.

Should be spinning the tires of the line?

I would work on feathering the clutch off the line a little more and not just straight dumping it. Also pre-loading with reduce weight shift and allow the car to leave the line quicker and more efficient w/o bogging so bad. My last 1.8 setup I could launch at 7500 and keep in vtec (5300) from the time I left the tree til the time I crossed the line. That was on 23" slicks too. A little spin off the line isn't a bad thing, just like too much traction isn't always a good thing....but there is a happy medium.

The car was mentioned in a Speedhunters article: Holeshot Heroes: Racing At The 4&Rotary Nationals | Speedhunters Pretty cool.

Have finally been able to look over the logs and have found it's running pretty rich, like 10.0 bottom of the sensor rich so have some power to pick up there.

Still another two weeks until I can race it again (I'm fiending!) but I'm thinking I will play around with high tire pressures to encourage a lot of wheelspin then slowly dial it out, have set up a shift light now so I'm not shifting at 7500 and dropping out of vtec (oops) and also the above a/f ratio.

I just want 12.99 and I will be happy.

If you drop to a 1.7 60' you will see 12's. A 1.6 will have you chasing 12.50

General rule of thumb for the 60' times is 1 tenth in the shirt track is 2 tenths on the big end. Dropping 2 tenths off your 60 most likely will from 4 tenths at the line if you hit your shifts. I thought this was bogus until I went from 2.0 to 1.8 60's and did the math.

I've been studying the timesheets and have found the car puts on pretty much the same on the top end, real consistent!

So getting it moving harder out of the hole will be a lot of fun, I may not have made the right choice with the Exedy Twin Plate but I had it sitting there vs a stock standard worn out factory clutch so slipping is a bit tough haha

Went 13.17 @ 103 on Wednesday



Earlier in the day the car went 1.88 to the 60ft so there's a 12.9X in there, just gotta work on the 1-2 shift.



I have a Tunerview RD1 and it's playing up at the moment, the RPM gauge works at low RPM but when the revs get up it stops working and neither does the shift light.

Must be a vibration/interference issue

Sounds like a bad feed from the dizzy. Check wiring and grounds.

Well I got my 12!



Then on the next pass I decided not to change anything and see if I could repeat it but broke the gearbox on the line - all gears change and you can hear them spinning so I'm guessing the final drive has stripped.

Little bit disappointed that my day was over so quick but happy that I achieved one of my goals.

One more race meet in April before our season is over so I'll see how things go.

Stepped up to 24.5s, Mfactory 1st gear and a wheel alignment

One side had -31° of toe the other had +27° the poor thing was fighting itself down the track!

I jetted up to 100hp and went 11.45 @ 115, I took a lot of timing out to play it safe, have a few more degrees to put in then I will try and get a 10 second pass on the stock $150 B18C

Awesome!

I'd jet it to 150 with some conservative timing and go for 10s. It'll handle 150 with a good tune and cold plugs.

Any advice on where to start with plugs? I have no clue what is in the motor at the moment

I would go at least two steps colder than stock. Make a pass and see what the ground strap tells you.
You want the heat mark to be about the middle of the strap. Every car is different.

Car went 11.43 @ 118 yesterday, 60 foot was 1.70 so plenty more in it.

Snapped an Insane Shaft 1000hp CV joint on the next pass, really need to sort out my staging/preloading/launching technique
