Not to start a **** storm but it was the first event I have been to in long time where I heard multiple fans waiting inline, in the stands and walking around openly commenting on a lack of race cars (I think there was only 1 heads up class with a full field) and show cars, they where audibly un happy. There is no need to jump down this guys throat for giving feedback on a event that you could plainly see had a lack of attendance for racers, fans, show cars ect.

This was the first event I have been to in long time strictly as a fan, since my car broke I had nothing to drive, none of my friends cars where there so there was nothing to help out with, I was just a fan walking around and saw the event in completely different light.

In the end you have to put on a good show for the fans, non full field classes, bye runs left and right and what do you expect people to think?

Thank You. I am usually racing in the events as well but coming from a spectators point of view, it sucked. I would like to hear from the racers who usually show up, is it the rules that pushed everyone away or is everyones cars not running yet?

Had a good time at this event. Shame I broke my CRX on the very first pass. Some nice cars for sure but the car count was low on the Race Car Classes.

Thanks for posting the pics of it!

I had a good time.....got my license and still working the bugs out with my driving and the car. I wish more folks would have showed up but nobody knows what other people have going on now. If you havent noticed the economy is down and money is tight. I say we just keep trying to support this as much as we can and enjoy it. More cars will show up in time but making negative comments really does nothing for our sport.

Still fighting trans issues from last year, as well as a looming larger problem, made this trip not worth it for me. I'm sure lots of people, including myself, are running into budgetary issues as well.

I think this may be getting overlooked. Just sitting here thinking about the days when my buddies and I would get out pretty often and race, compared to now when I havn't hit the 1/4 mile in close to a year and friends of mine have been 2-3+ years purely for $ reasons. It's sad, and it leaves me wondering what happened.

Unfortunately to make ends meet, drag racing is one of the first things people are going to put on the back-burner to keep mouths fed. I sure hope for my own sake as well as others that things in general make a change for the better.

Judging from the pictures this event looked like it had FAR less cars than a typical Test n' Tune...

Truth. Mortgage, kids, and rising business expenses add up to not many funds for racing!

Im sorry, me making a negative comment isnt going to kill this sport. That is the first thing everyone always says. I said I had a horrible time from being a non racer stand point, do you really think that is going to bring boti down from my one comment? maybe if they came back to a bfg drag radial class where people didnt have to build 800hp cars to race you might see more racers? Just my 2 cents. Put it to you this way, I have a 67mm turbo car on a basic build trying to compete around imstars true street class and the only way that I would race in an event like boti is to have fun, not to compete at all because I wouldnt hang in there with 72mm turbo cars. Just my input and maybe some other people thing the same way guess we will find out how many people show up for the smaller turbo class and different rules of imstar.

The fastest guy doesn't always win... the class I run has no turbo limit, I run a 76mm when some of the others run 88 to 91mm turbos! But guess what I caught a good light and won the race in Orlando, so you sitting at home because you think you won't be competitive is just silly. Racer count is down because people don't come out to just have a good time, run and support the series like they should. They can't buld a class for everyone, so just find one you fit in and have fun.

I was there watching, how is that not supporting the sport? Im just saying alot of people probably dont want to take a ten sec car and run against reynolds 9.5 all day. But I will anyways because it is fun. Im just giving my input which mr parks asked.

Matt Dawdy ran his mid 10 second car in the Sport Comp class and ended up making it to the finals against Van Natten.

I realized this im just stating that most people that are around me are racing at imstar because of the rules, therefore probably a reason that most people didnt show up. Im not bitching about it just saying maybe next year they could change up rules or make another class that more of the low budgeting people will show up for and bring there friends because they think they will have a chance at winning. Whats the point of have 12 cars show up for a class?

adding another class is about the last thing that needs to happen. a 67mm turbo is an easy 9 second turbo. reynolds went 9.5 ONCE this weekend and then didnt make it down the track any other pass. your 67mm turbo would have probably been very competitive.

i do like the rules/class's of the IMSTAR events...but that shouldnt stop you from running other stuff. i used to travel all over the place to run my 61mm low 10 second car when everybody else was running mid/high 9's. i wont lie, i had WAY more run racing back then than i do now lol

Joe you aint lieing, i had the hardest time getting down the track I have ever had. It was a mix of a bunch of things. In the semis I ran off the gate all of first, and second then tried to give it a little boost in the middle of third and forth and let me tell you something. That **** sucked. I wish I would have went down the entire track on the gate. That was my best 1/8th of the weekend, lol. Thats racing.

People need to stop being so concerned with having what the next guy has and just go out there and race. This sport needs to support of the racers and fans.

I hear what you guys are saying. The reason that I didnt go is because my car isnt ready for the 9 sec lis. yet. whats the point of racing and then getting kicked out. I know why alot of people didnt go is because of the rules and most of them are racing in imstar. Thats all i am saying. i wish there was a bfg radial class like nopi in 04 and 05. jim Hucks going 10s on a non vtec guys with basic log manifolds and single boost controllers started to get into low 11s in 06. then they decided to go with letting the mickey thompson and m and h tires in then the higher hp cars started going mid to low tens which the racer count started to drop. But I will race where i can and enjoy it.

Well nopi always had BFG drag radial classes because BFG sponsored to have it. Now if you want to approach BFG, MT, Nitto and try and get them to sponsor a DR class for you to race, then please do. I don't understand why people complain about things and yet don't want to be proactive in fixing things they see wrong. Everyones biggest complaint was low racer and spectator count, yet no one is to blame but themselves for that. The people that stayed home, or those who stayed in the stands instead of running their car! Its our job due to the limited budget of these series now, to promote and get everyone out there. Start the threads on local boards about the events, Make facebook postings like Loan from clutchmasters did inviting everyone out and reminding people about the event. Its as simple as that!

i agree with you, I was just frustrated that day because I would have rather stayed home instead of supporting this sport. I really hope more people show up at imstar.

I had a fun time for sure. I didn't run my best but was still plenty happy to be out there supporting the sport and just making a run down the track. I don't set out to go win races i set out to have fun. And if im not having fun at racing i wont be racing just simple. Winning is the big bonus lol.

The turnout was small but the racing was still good. Like Jess said nothing to blame but the people who sat at home. ( probably playing Xbox ) I also blame the economy, the sky high gas prices last year seemed to be the top of the down fall. And not many are returning yet since that.
