Re: 8 seconds
Mine has NEVER made more then ~840whp (8.92@176)..
Brian Kilby has only made mid 700's (8.94@168)..
Both are SFWD legal..
Dyno is a tuning tool, Dyno HP doesn't mean much..

streetcar? hot-rod type car? tube chassis car?
this is too vague to get a real answer fellah
many guys have broke 8's with 900 or less HP back in the day with hot rod and tubed cars.. but you didn't specify

Re: 8 seconds
It was not for a specific class, it was just a question based off a discussion me and a friend were having. He stated we needed over 1000+ and i said it has been done with alot less. some cars around here weighing 2000lbs and claim 900whp but not running 8s, thats how the discussion got started.

Re: 8 seconds
Since this threads question is being posed half ***'ed, let me help out. I am the person he was arguing with about this Civic specifically.. According to the owner of this civic he ran 9.4 with 780whp. He now has 823whp. BigG thinks that 43 more HP would now make it an 8 second car, Well I disagree. I said he would need approximately 175 more HP to break 8's. And to be clear, I meant 175hp on top of the 780whp. not 823whp + 175.

Re: 8 seconds
no i said if he made 880+ like everyone keeps saying it should be a 8 second car, you said he needs more than that it takes 1000hp to run 8's in a fwd.

Re: 8 seconds
Will state it once more so there is no confusion. My estimate is that The car we are discussing needs about 950ish to break into the 8's. didn't say 1000hp+.. didnt say 1200hp. once again, he ran 9.4 with 780whp. I estimated that 175 more hp would be needed which bring his 780whp to 955whp.

Re: 8 seconds
The speed also relates to your gearing. If you are not running out 4th all the way out to the 1/4 your speed is gonna be lower.

Re: 8 seconds
Putting the power down is a HUGE key. You can throw all the power at it running out the top, but without knocking down a 4.2x or lower at the 330, you aren't going to see that 8 second pass.
