044 filter question...
how many of you are only running a post filter on your setup? i have seen a few setups on here not running any prefilters...
also any pics on where you guys have them mounted would be great too.

Re: 044 filter question...
I always thought more people ran without them than with them. I had them on my car, but I know when I sold the car, they were removed and most of the other cars of people I know don't use prefilters with the 044's since they have a filter built into them.

Re: 044 filter question...
In OE applications, 044's had a 20 - 25 micron filter on the inlet.
The screen inside the inlet port is the pumps last line of defense, if that starts collecting debris, you lose flow. period.
Injectors have inlet screens as well, but I think we can all agree it's still important to run a filter before them. Same goes for the pump.

Re: 044 filter question...
I never have on my 044's. I run Kinsler post filters only. I try to always run my fuel through a mesh filter first before going in the tank. All my fuel comes from a can though.

Re: 044 filter question...
Filters should not be ignored. You're only making problems for yourself by not running them or not running the right size.
You need a min of a 25 micron between the pump and injectors, but ideally a 10 micron. A 100 micron post filter is going to cause injector problems.

Re: 044 filter question...
If you run a single feed into a Y into 2 pumps back to a Y into a single feed up to the rail can you get away with one inline filter after the pumps or is it more ideal to run 2 filters attached to the pumps?

Re: 044 filter question...
Yes, it's ok to run 1 pre and 1 post filter before and after your Y's.
On the topic of filters, stay away from the small filters with the little round disk 'element'. There's no surface area to them and they will become a restriction in no time.
On the post filter, the closer to the rail the better, as anything after the filter isn't filtered before the injectors. If you have rubber line that is degrading from alcohol use or cheap line, you want your post filter to stop it before it gets to the injectors.
