Re: S600 Coupe Off frame restoration
I have looked at all of Alf's pictures of his S800 project car. The evolution from the S600 to the S800 is very interesting. He certainly has some work ahead of him to rescue this classic. Here is his link again.

Alf, you mention "awating to get a V5", What is That about?

Re: S600 Coupe Off frame restoration
Great pictures Alf,
Everything starts to look a lot better when it is disassembled and cleaned up. The chassis and running gear will be easier to restore than your bodywork. I look forward to watching your progress. I need a little break from my project before I tackle my bodywork. It will be a whole new learning curve for me and I am not really up for it right now. Maybe I will gain some inspiration from your project.
Cheers,
John

Re: S600 Coupe Off frame restoration
I mentioned I was going to have a break from my project. I have purchased a warehouse in Perth WA and my wife and I are moving over for a year to establish a branch of our business there. I will miss the Honda, my Lathe and Mill but they will still be there when I get back. I will be monitoring all the Honda S car threads and can offer up my 2 bobs worth if required.
I have a pretty good idea of what used parts I have if you are looking for something. My kids are house sitting in Adelaide and can find bits and pieces in the junk pile.
My eldest daughter is seeking interest in her motor racing next year and has recently been interviewed for a Just Cars promotion. Have a look and show your support. I even get a mention.

For reference, Honda has the S800 and S800M parts lists on line:

Click the links under パーツリスト (Parts List) accordingly. The images are almost usable... See ya. Neko.

Re: S600 Coupe Off frame restoration
My Honda body is off to Melbourne for a birthday. It fits between the ramps in the Formula Ford race trailer. The body would be just too high with the chassis and wheels on, to fit in the 1200mm height. It is a very small car. My daughters fiance and his mate are keen to start work on the body and keep this project moving while I am away in Perth. I hope to get plenty of pictures to post during the process.

Re: S600 Coupe Off frame restoration
My daughter got a last minute call up to drive at the Australian Grand Prix.
I hope she gets a kick out of pedalling the little Honda in a Classic Rally when it is all back together.

My daughter, Samantha Reid is the CAMS Ignition Manager. To see what Jenson Button and Samantha have to say about CAMS Ignition follow this link.

By wild coincidence I have the original Workshop Manual and Parts List for the Ex Jenson Button infamous "S800" engined S600. see earlier posts.
It is strange watching all this roll out in Melbourne from the other side of the country in Perth. Kids finding their own way is great.

Re: S600 Coupe Off frame restoration
Thought this was petty cool. It is inside a S800 coupe which is very similar to a S600. Nice sound as well.

Re: S600 Coupe Off frame restoration
Peter lowered his crank into the block using 2 scissor car jacks. This method allows the pistons to be aligned 2 at a time. He has used 2 tin cans with cable ties to compress the rings. The tin cans will locate in the cylinder liners chamfer while the crank is lowered and the pistons slide in.
4 extra hands would be useful all the same to get the bearing holders upright and to wind the scissor jacks simultaneously.
Good job! Don't be in a hurry.
