Neko, Wow. The spring you found is perfect for a check valve. Every dimension matches.
I would assume that 3.4kg will compress it 20mm? I can't read the Japanese. Does it show a price? I don't need any now but this could help others source a good check valve spring.John

Fabricated the tilting stand today. With a few minor modifications to the original plan, it seems to work OK. I figure it tilts the body around 70 degrees each way from horizontal and should be a very useful aid when repairing the panels.

Uncovered all the ugly bits after a media blast.
Primed the bare metal to prevent rust while we contemplate the way forward.

still see signs where these bodies were dipped when new. when welding mine i noticed the zinc coating needs cleaning back or you don't get a proper weld. plus don't breath the fumes.
chap in the UK has a supply of Fibrglass wings. i know you will be keeping metal wings but it is an option if there is no other way forward. a set of new old stock metal wings was on ebay in Europe recently for £4000 (yes thats in pounds)!
also you can (or could very recently) get new panels to replace the dented C pillar rear lower roof to wing panel from Sherwood Motorcycles in the UK
Link here
looking forward to seeing the car in paint

Re: S600 Coupe Off frame restoration
Been looking at the frame/body mounting fixings. My coupe chassis is a more recent version than the workshop or parts manual shows. I have sketched my chassis using photos taken when it was blasted and the workshop manual diagram as a starting point. I also have a slightly different set of bolts and rubbers than the parts manual.
Has someone got a picture of the set of body mounts that Ortmann sells?

Re: S600 Coupe Off frame restoration
Thanks Skip.
Long time since I looked at Ortmanns parts list and the Photos make it easier to use. Be even better if all parts were pictured.
I shall have a look at the S800 manuals to see if my late model S600 coupe has similar mounts. I should have bagged and labelled them all separately to keep track of their location.
I have 6x Chassis Bolt B, 8x Chassis Bolt A, 6x Chassis Bolt C, 0x Chassis Bolt D
I may have lost or gained some?

Re: S600 Coupe Off frame restoration
Hello,
Just joined this page. This is a nice read.
I do have a question about the seats upholstery, sorry if this was discussed already.
Does anyone know if originally the back of the seats of the S600 were not upholstered? If not, were they painted matte black or shiny black?
I've been researching original catalogues and it seems that both covertible & coupes were not back upholstered.
But the pictures were so small.
Thanks in advanced.

Re: S600 Coupe Off frame restoration
Welcome SantiJ,
This is a question that I can't answer. My coupe interior is black seats, black door cards and black dash.
Rear LHS fuel tank and RHS plastic covers are light grey colour.
I haven't looked at the seats much but I am quite sure the backs are black.
Other readers here will have a better idea than me.
Stay tuned.
John

Re: S600 Coupe Off frame restoration
Hi Santij
I found these pics of early S600 seats in unrestored condition. The backs are black vinyl as well. I cannot recall seeing pics of seat-backs in bare metal.
