Default Question about wheel size for a 1978 civic input appreciated

I decided to go with the Minilites on my 1978 civic cvcc. I had an idea that I liked the 8 spoke look and thought they were panasports, but I did not know about Minilites a UK company that has been making magnisium racing wheels since the 60's. Of course they also make them in aluminum there is a distributor in Los Gatos, Ca and they go for around $215.00 ea. which is not bad, since they are going to have to be custom with the rare lug pattern 4X120. My question is does anybody know what width and offset I should get? I am sticking with the 13" I am not interested in lowering my car, but want to know what width 5", 5.5" or 6". Thanks

E-at-me,

That picture is sick thats how I want my 78. Mine is actually red like the front part of the car. Are those 13", 14" or 15". Like I said I dont want to lower her. It has the stock 13" You think 14" would be good would the 15" rub. Thanks

those are 13's. the car was LOW on carrera coilovers. was a blast to drive and handled like a dream. best 2 grand i've spent.

anyways, 14's would be good, 15's would be pushing the envelope but i think i'd still rock them. at civic1200.com they've got a lot of people that have done stuff to these cars, including a "big brake" 4x100 swap so you can use regular civic wheels.

E-at_me, did my homework and contacted minilite in UK I'm getting the 13"X 5.5. The guy I emailed knew the offset and lug pattern (4X120). He said 81 pounds per wheel and 125 pounds per shipping which is around $900.00. I also contacted panasport and spoke to some guy he said the wheels where $320.00 ea. so that would be $1280.00 with out shipping plus 3mo. to get. Even though panasports are from Japan I'm still going to rock the Minilities. What are carrera coilovers you mean from a porshe carrera? Also I though about the 4X100 conversion with all disk brakes but It seemed it would be more $$ Plus I really like the Minilites I want to keep it old school and stay away from Rotas.

hello XANTHODC2R, sorry for the time of my response !
I was looking on another forum, were a guys said that he prefer drive with some 175 tyres. So I think good rims would be 5". You have contact minilites, and have them 4x120 rims ? If so, that great !
E-at me, your civic was superb ! I'd like to give mine the same look, but all in white, just lowered with minilites rims.

Thanks Zenguy, you gave me the idea about the minilites I appreciate it, as soon as I get them I will post pictures. Before that is always liked the panasports, but to my surprise the minilites are less expensive. I guess the yen is more than the pound.

Yes, I think, and so I think minilites are lighter than panasport. Maybe it's good to verify ?
