There's not much to think about actually, the hardtop is cool and all, but to have an S800 Coupe would be even cooler. When I ask myself, how often will I be driving my S600 with the hardtop on? Answer is probably hardly ever. And now if I do want that "toped" feeling, well now I'll have this S800 Coupe.

So that's my plan, I'm trading this hardtop (S600 stays of course ):

For this:

Hope to be able to finalize all the details and have this new jewel home in a month or so. I don't even know to much about it, other than it's probably a 66/67 and the engine is stuck, but I don't care, it's an S800 coupe and this is what I've been wanting for a while now.

Yeah, there's some obvious rust, but it's not rotted through. Hardtops are worth around $3K for a "complete" hardtop (meaning it's got all the little trim peices, rubber mouldings, etc.., which mine has), and I'd say this car is worth at least that (at least that in raw parts alone). So over all it's a good trade for us both.

I'm actually not sure what I plan on doing with this car just yet. I think since I'm doing a full OEM resto on the S600, I might do up this S800 a little different. Maybe give it a race car theme. Perhaps something along the lines of this roadster:

Good choice, the real coupe looks much better than a topped convertible

I say you should go for it! I love the idea of it being a racing theme! They look fantastic with out the bumpers aswell.

A few different examples I like. I love the yellow roadster with the black rims.

Atleast we will know that one of those S-cars will be saved if everything works out. There looks to be about 4 S-cars in the last photo

Im not sure of what wheels are on the white one. They are a pain to find wheels for but alot of companys will custom make them at some extra cost. I think the pattern is 130 x 5, +16 offset, R13-5.5. I was wanting to get Black Superlites with chrome lip or Simmon B45s in 14" or 15" with a little dish on the rear with a but I will have to get them drilled to fit the car. I love it when the rear tyre is slightly tucked up under the rear.

Hubcaps for the win tho.

Some bolt pattern as P-cars

I can already see an S800 with massive flares and a set of Fuchs in my head

Yeah, when I go down to pick up this car, I'm going to see what his plans are for the other cars. And the ones you see in those pics are just the tip of the iceburg, he's got garages (not garage, buy yes garages) full of these cars.

C'mon man, spill the beans. We could all meet up with you there and make a spontaneous auction out of it

There's no beans to spill. I've always offered anyone who showed interest in purchasing one of these cars assistance in both finding and purchasing one. If anyone would like to buy an old S-car, I'm just a PM away

haha.. yeah I wouldnt even think twice. I know the tops are very hard to find but in the long run you have a car you have always wanted.

Nice find & good luck with your new car. If you were any closer to me I would offer restoration at a discounted price at my P/B shop.

Keep us posted.
