'86 CRX Si Interference or non-interference motor?
Is the '86 CRX Si an interference motor? I have done a lot of searches only to get different opinions. I had the understanding that since there was no scheduled timing belt replacement mileage for this car that if it broke it would be only a inconvenience, a new belt and you are on your way, no bent valves etc. On some of the newer Honda forums there are people who break belts and ruin the motor or at least bend valves and then some will break a belt, replace it and drive away. This doesn't make sense to me. I can see bending valves on a non-interference engine if the belt brakes above red line if there is some valve float.
My Honda had the belt changed at 90K and now it has 225K on it, so this belt has 135K on it and it 'looks' new. I've been dumb and happy with the understanding that this was a non-interference engine till I was looking at the Gates Timing belt page and they had my engine listed as interference. Now I am nervous. Does someone out there really know the answer?
Thanks, Jim

Everything that I've seen indicates the 1.5L engine to be of the interference type. The official Honda workshop manual doesn't say this (or the opposite), but I've seen it described in other places as interference type.
