Need help getting OEM keyless entry to work again
My keyless entry stopped working after my turbo install a while back. I have tried syncing my remote back up to the car via turning the key and holding button on remote and repeating (did all this the way Honda told me too).
So what could it be? I changed to a p28 ecu, but I dont think that would cause it. Also the battery was disconnected during the install. Would that cause this problem? I would really like to have it back.
Thanks.
Car: 98 Civic EX, Honda Keyless Entry system. Trying to use same remote that was used on the car pre turbo.

yeah power locks work in the car. I have not looked at the fuse. I was having problems with the car a while go (not related to locks) and checked all fuses to see if it was causing a problem. I don't remember any being blown, but I will double check tomorrow after classes.

Re: (CB7.v2)
I don't know how it was installed. I had a aftermarket radio installed like a week after I got the car (maybe 5 years ago) they hooked it up so all my keyless entry and stuff would still work (which it did until I installed the turbo). I installed the turbo kit a little over a year ago so its not the radio thing.

I would still pull the HU, and make sure that the stock HU, which should be sitting below and behind the aftermarket HU, is still plugged in.
There should be one of these "T" harnesses installed... http://www.scosche.com/scosche...HA07B the plug with the coiled up wiring should be plugged into the stock HU. 94

Yeah see above post by me. I check all the fuses and they are all fine.
Also I took my head unit out and I saw what looks to be the stock head unit. It looks like the shop took the face off. I'm not sure, I will snap some pics tomorrow and maybe you all can tell me what going on. I will see if I can find that connection too.

Ok here are some pics. I think I found that harness thing.
In the first pic there is a connector hanging I don't know if that has anything to do with any of this, I'm not sure where it goes. All the connections they made from the harness to the radio are solid, none that I can find are not connected. I have two lines from my radio that are not hooked up. One being the Remote wire and another pink one that says IN Line or something on it. I don't believe either have anything to do with the keyless entry.
I also pushed on all the connections and made sure they were all in there female parts snug.
I think this is the Radio:
Misc. Pics of Wiring and what I think to be that harness:

the red/black wire running almost horizontal is for my wideband and there is also a green wire that I used for a part. Other than that its all a big mess from radio I guess.

Re: (Civicman86)
Check and make sure there is power and ground at the OEM radio plug, unplug it and check, if there is then I would assume the RF section, [for oem remote] in the stock HU has gone west, and you would need to replace it.
Better yet, get rid of the OEM HU and install an alarm, or alarm/remote start with turbo cool down timer, you could even just install a key-less entry module to get key-less entry back and at the same time get rid of that cluster of wiring. 94

Re: (Civicman86)
Have you yet to meter the harness and see if there is power going to it. Is the aftermarket working too? Or does the aftermarket still work too. The funny thing is that the harness in that pic does not have power wires and ground wires running back up the harness to the aftermarket radio. It goes straight to the stock radio. Let us know what the harness is metering

Re: (Civicman86)
OK guys I still need help. I metered all the connectors and here are my results. I'm lost because it looks like everything is getting power. I have tried re-mating my controllers to the car by: turning the car off, pushing button, repeat 3 times, yatta yatta....no dice.
These readings were with the car on, AIR on, Radio On, Roof Light on, Reading lights on.
<B4 should be 0V.>
Above is the readings for this connector that the shop installed to keep my keyless entry like 7 years ago.
Which is linked to this...
Overall view of the mess....
I also just want to re-stress that this car has had an aftermarket headunit for 7 years now, and probally 5 of those the keyless entry DID work. It was after I installed my turbo kit that it stopped working. I changed ECU's (which by the diagram should not matter) and also battery.
Please guys I need some help with this.

Alright I grounded all the ones you mentioned. They all did what they were suppose to (i.e. unlocked just driver door, unlocked both doors, locked doors).
When I changed batteries, is it possible the radio 'forgot' how to use the keyless entry and need to be reprogrammed? (I'm hoping now because my 'radio' does not have a face plate on it).

Either that, "the radio 'forgot' how to use the keyless entry and need to be reprogrammed" or the radio has gone west, you did say you tried reprogramming the remote, right? 94

Yup I tried doing it through the service manual instructions. I will try it one more time this evening, but I'm pretty sure im SOL.
It looks like I will have to invest in a aftermarket system (which I dont have money for right now ).
If I do have to go aftermarket, I can get rid of all the messy wiring correct, as there will be no need to connect my alpine headunit to the factory radio piece?

Yes you can get rid of the stock HU and all that extra wiring and plugs.
Not sure it will make any diff. but when you try reprogramming the remote, plug the ant. back unto the stock HU.
You can get a key-less entry for well under $50 and even a entry level brand name alarm for under $100. 94

What are you recommendations for a quality alarm system (I only ask because you seem to be pretty knowledgeable)? If I'm going to spend the money I would like a very nice quality one. Luckily I don't daily drive the car and is still 'under the knife' so I should have some time to save some greenbacks.
I will try to hook the antenna back up to the HU. I think though that there is a small antenna on the back of the HU that might go to the keyless entry system (looks like a little black one, I can take pics). I wish there was a way to reprogram the headunit in the state that it is now
