Install alarm myself or just go to shop??
I have a 96 integra and wanna get an alarm for it. I kind of want to do it my self but it would be my first time and kind of dont want to mess it up. I was wandering since my car had an alarm before and Im sure the previous alarm box is still under my dash because I can feel it and I see a bunch of wires under there. If I get a new alarm will all the wirings be the same? Is it hard/complicated to install an alarm for a first timer? Only thing I want to do it myself is so I can save more money. Or should I just ditch this idea and go to a shop and either buy my own and have them install it or buy one from them and have them install it? Im not sure what brand is the one in my car right now, I havent actually pull it out to look at it.
Also what alarm would you guys recomend? Im not sure on what to get but I want a 2-way pager with maybe auto start. But heard auto start isnt good for manual cars, why is that?
I was searching the internet for alarm a few months back but the ones I found people recomending are outdated, they're post that are from 2000-2007 around there and it is now 2013 Im pretty sure there are new and better alarms now. Just dont know what to get.

best to take it to a shop, what they would do in a couple of hours could take you a couple of days, especially if you don't know what wires are what and by the sounds of it, it doesn't seem like the previous alarm was taken out properly which could make it more of a hassle but just depends how much free time you have

Good point there. Probably just gnna let a shop install a new alarm and then Ill just do the stealth install from that link. I like how he hides the alaram speaker and everything. So if I get a shop to install it all I have to do is rewire the speaker and stuff to how the guy did it And wouldnt have to worry bout do the install wrong.

It seems like you have no experience with alarms, so I'd recommend you not try it yourself.
Just go to a professional. You can find freelance installers in your area if you look hard enough. Just make sure they are MECP certified at least.
Any DEI alarm is good. The Viper Responder 350 is right around $100 and has 2-way.
For accesories the boundaries are pretty wide. You can get a Tilt sensor that goes off when someone tilts your car in any way if they try to take your wheels or possibly even tow your car (if the alarm is set sensitive enough). You can also get a back up battery or back up siren.
You shouldn't stop your car security there though. Kill switches, detachable steering wheel locks, clutch locks etc. Just remember to have lots of layers. You can even go as far as GPS tracking if your pockets are deep enough.

Take it a shop or someone with alarm install knowledge. If it's at a shop, don't expect the installer to hide the wires and components. They are there to do fast work, not spend hours on a stealth install for a small labor charge.
