Pager Alarm Antenna help
Ive looked at the How to for alarms and see the use of the pillar bar near the driver side rear window. What I am concerned about is the antenna placement. My 791xv has an antenna with 2 ends. Should I mount it vertically or horizontally for best reception. As of now i was going to place it in the top of the rear window, horizontally. Thanks guys.

Instructions on my viper 5900 say "...for optimal range, the antenna should be mounted vertically...",
but what is vertical on a 'T' style antenna? I would assume they mean mount it vertically, as in, mount it so the lettering on the antenna is vertical.

Mount ant. with mast pointing up or down with mast at least 1" from any metal.
The rear window defog "grid" can cause reception problems, [range]. 94

Re: Pager Alarm Antenna help (fcm)
OK well. As of now it is mounted at the top of the rear window away from any of the grid. It is a "t" antenna so i have it horizontal and level. Perhaps i should move it to the side of the rear window, away from the rear defrost strips, running parallel to the car. But it still wouldnt be "vertical" . I would need to put it on the pillar bar or something behind the driver to have it be completely vertical. Wherever I do end up leaving it I will test for range quality. Shouldnt be too hard to try new locations

I finished my alarm install (first-timer) a couple days ago. I put the transceiver on the dots... big mistake. The dots totally screw up the reception. I'll probably be moving it to the B piller when I get the chance to pull apart my harnesses

If you have the type of ant. that has 2 masts, [T ant.] it needs to be mounted horizontally, I would leave it where it is if it's working, you can try it at a side window, [I have installed a few there] and see if range is any better. 94
