Default How do I disarm/rearm factory alarm for remote start?

I have a 2001 Accord EX with a factory alarm, and I am trying to install an alarm with remote start.

My question is: How do I disarm the factory alarm without unlocking the door locks? This is desired during remote-start.

I have a Viper 5900, but this applies to Clifford Matrix 50.5X, Python 990, Clarion Ungo SR9000, and many other DEI (Directed Electronics) alarms with remote start (They are almost all identical in wiring).

The EX models arm and disarm with the door locks, and LX only arm with transmitter. Luckily I have an EX.

On DEI remote start alarms H2/4 and H2/6 are for factory rearm and disarm. These are not required if I can arm and disarm the factory alarm simply by letting it use the lock and unlock outputs of the DEI alarm. But, when I use remote-start, I need to disarm it without unlocking the door locks. I guess that is where H2/4 and H2/6 come in, but how can wire them so that the factory alarm can disarm without unlocking the doors?

I am also using a universal 556u immobilizer bypass, but that doesn't really have anything to do with this. It only bypasses the key not being in the ignition when the car starts.

You can program the system to unlock, [disarm alarm] before remote start and lock, [rearm alarm] after start-up.

Or, use the systems OEM alarm disarm output and connect the blue disarm lead... " On the EX Model the BLUE (-) is located at the POWER WINDOW Switch, on the LX Model the wire is located at the KEYLESS/SECURITY Module attached to the DRIVERS UNDERDASH PANEL." 94

Hey, RIGHT ON for your response.

Okay, I've have some questions for both Programming and Wiring methods.

<U>First the Wiring Method:</U>
The service manual shows a BLUE wire from the driver's door key switch (corresponding to unlock), which goes to the multiplex controller unit (connected to the alarm unit). This sounds like the wire you are talking about, which disarms of the alarm (for EX models).

Again, the DEI alarm has these wires:
FACTORY ALARM REARM:H2/4GREEN/WHITE (-)
FACTORY ALARM DISARM:H2/6LIGHT GREEN/BLACK (-)
neither are the "blue disarm lead" you are talking about. By "blue disarm lead" did you mean the BLUE wire in the door of the car, OR a different blue wire coming from the DEI alarm unit?

If you are talking about a "blue disarm lead" coming from the alarm, there is a blue wire on the Satellite Relay (for remote start). Is that the one you're talking about? The manual says absolutely nothing about it, other than it is BLUE (-) Status Output. That entire harness (blue/orange/violet/pink), for that matter, is completely ignored by the manual. Does anyone know what those are for?

<U>Now, the programming Method:</U>
I think this is the the programming part of the manual you talked about:

2-10 FAD function with Unlock (1) Before Unlock (2), Remote Start only (3)

2-10 FACTORY ALARM DISARM—WITH UNLOCK, BEFORE UNLOCK, REMOTE START ONLY: In the default setting the factory alarm disarm output will disarm the factory alarm system any time the button(s) controlling Unlock is pressed. The “Before Unlock” output to disarms the factory alarm before the unlock output activates and before remote start is activated. The “Remote Start Only” output disarms the factory alarm only before the remote start is activated.

After reading it several times I still don't completely understand it. Your english is clearer than theirs (ha ha ). I'm not sure which option to program? Does "Remote Start Only" mean it will no longer disarm when unlock is pressed? And then how do we program it to rearm right after the engine starts?

I appreciate your help

<U>side note:</U>
DEI really tries to keep their customers from getting access to help. Even their installation manuals are hidden. The Viper 5900 installation guide is here for anyone else who needs it:
http://www.directeddealers.com...t.pdf
Interestingly, the comparable Python, Clifford, and Clarion manuals are identical with minor changes:
http://www.directeddealers.com...t.pdf
http://www.directeddealers.com...t.pdf
http://clarion.com/us/en/Mungo...1.pdf

my 2 cents: Why a company would want to make it so difficult for the people who give them money is beyond me. It is like they are intentionally F#@!%*&G with us. If they weren't a monopoly, they would surely losing money to competitors... evil jerks... ok, i feel better now

Connect FACTORY ALARM DISARM: H2/6 LIGHT GREEN/BLACK (-) to the blue OEM alarm disarm lead in the car.

The blue BLUE (-) Status Output. is an extra neg.(-) ground out when engine running on remote start, it is used to trigger the transponder bypass module. the other 3 are for controlling relays if you need more ign., starter or acc. outputs, you do not, in fact it you are not using H3/5 BLUE/WHITE (-) 200 mA 2ND STATUS/REAR DEFOGGER- LATCHED/PULSED for anything, you can use it for transponder bypass module.

As for programing the 2-10 FAD function with Unlock (1) Before Unlock (2), Remote Start only (3) that will depend on if the OEM alarm needs to be disarmed on remote start, if it does, program it to #2.

Rearming the OEM alarm, [if it needs to be disarmed for remote start] should be able to be done by connecting the FACTORY ALARM REARM: H2/4 GREEN/WHITE (-) to the same place as the systems door lock output, [green neg.(-) door lock].

The question I would ask is, do you need the OEM alarm armed when remote started??? 94

Wow. Thanks a lot fcm. You've been a huge help.
And the answer is NO, I don't need to rearm the factory alarm. didn't even think about it (ha ha)

I stumbled across the XK02 - Door Lock Control kit (more info at http://www.bypasskit.com/product.aspx?prodid=XK02 ). It looks like it saves some work by communicating to the Factory alarm through a single data cable. It also gives the programming option for: 1st Pulse Unlock Driver Door, 2nd Pulse Unlock All Doors. Just like the factory alarm. Maybe the DEI alarm can already do that without this unit... I don't know?

I will still need the 556u, because the XK02 only acts as a door lock control. I don't like the 556u keeps a key in the car for someone to steal, and then steel the car. I know there are other good keyless immobilizer bypass modules on eBay for $20 or $25.

Anyway, once again, thank you very much. Take care

Modified because XK02 <U>DOES NOT</U> act as an immobilizer bypass

Yea we use the Fortin bypasses...

HONDA-SL3 & CAN-SL2 Combo

PATS data bypass kit and CAN Bus interface module combo for Honda and Acura vehicles. Works with all after market keyless entry, alarm systems, and remote starters. Both modules include the new 2-WAY Data-Link port. Patent Pending

Features:
Alarm Disarm
Alarm Rearm
CAN Bus
Data Key Bypass
Databus
Datalink (2-way)
Door Lock
Door Trigger
Door Unlock
Flash-Link Updatable
Hood Pin Output
No Key Required
Rear Defrost
Self Learning
Sliding Door (Left)
Sliding Door (Right)
Tachometer Output
Theft Protection
Trunk Pin Output
Trunk Release

Unfortunately this one only works on 03 and up Accords, the two available for 01 Accords only does the bypass... http://ifar.ca/vehicles/2001/honda/accord/ 94

Now that is really what I want. That saves a lot of work and permanent cuts to the car's electrical system. Too bad they don't have one for my car. Well, that's life.

These after market alarms are always getting more high tech. Never heard of Fortin before, but they seem to have nice products. I'm going to keep my eye out
