Help with Karr security system
A friend of mine has a Civic ex 2003 that i help him with when he needs it. He bought the car used and it came with a Karr security system in it and he has had nothing but problems with it, anywhere from it going off randomly to it locking itself (sometimes with the keys in it). So im trying to find out what we can do about it. Does anyone know if the original honda systems are kept in the cars when they put a karr system in? can I just remove the karr system and use the original honda system?
Any help would be great Thanks.

Re: Help with Karr security system
Do you have original remotes for Honda system? Should still work. The karr control box is very small black box and it says "electronic security module" on it and is most likely behind you knee kick panel and has a plastic strap holding it in or its above the fuse box in drivers kick panel. Find that follow all wires to where they tie into factory wiring cut there and repair wires one at a time.

Re: Help with Karr security system
These units are "add-ons" to the factory alarm and should be easy to remove.
They are installed preemptively by the dealer as a means to generate revenue and are designed to be easily removed (ie. pulling the brain) in the event the customer doesn't pony up for this option.
They are (seemingly) always installed with scotch-lock type connectors and the original wires should be carefully inspected when the unit is removed. All of the 22 gauge wires this alarm touched are probably now 32 gauge wires, unfortunately.
