I was thinking of adding this to my viper set up to give it alittle more to work with.
I would like it to beep if someone bumps the car or something but not be going off all the time and if someone walks by.
Let me know what you guys think and feel about this unit? Worth getting?
Thanks.

First, it's not an impact sensor, so "bumping" the car will, [by itself] do nothing to the 508D, [or I should say, will not make the 508D do anything.
The 508D is a dual zone proximity sensor, [better known as a radar sensor] it has two "zones", commonly called outside, [prewarn] and inside, [full alarm], the sensor is looking for mass moving towards it, or away from it, it checks about 3 times a sec.
If installed and adjusted properly, and I do agree it can be hard to set up, [but if installed properly to begin with, setup is a lot easier and more stable.
As B18C_EJ8 mentioned...<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by B18C_EJ8 »</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">it's another layer, so it's definitely money well spent... Especially useful for convertibles... </TD></TR></TABLE> I agree. 94
PS.... shaq32 The duel stage impact sensor, your Viper alarm came with, if installed and adjusted properly will trigger warning chirps with a "soft" impact, [bump] and go into full alarming mode with continuous "soft" impacts or a "hard" impact, or go directly to full alarming mode with any hard impact.

I agree 110%. It is hard as hell to adjust it to your liking, but once it's done, it's one of the best add-on's and security investments you will ever do....only if the person installing it knows what he's doin...

Ditto that, Its a pain to set up but once its done its great. make sure you follow the instructions. And don't tamper with the factory adjustment pot. Use the two adjustments that you are supose to use. Also face it in the right directions as instructed to do. It helps. From personal experinces, adjust it outside later in the evening. Its seems to be more sensitive at night then during the day. I rather target it for night, imo. But besides that its a great unit.

Re: (revhi)
Hey thats a real good ideal, sometimes i wish i could turn it off. Most of the time I just put the car into valet mode. Good point there.

I've got the AU94T and really like it. With my 2W900FM paging alarm I feel better about leaving the windows cracked or the top off (del Sol) for a quick stop somewhere that I know I'll still be in range. I have mine to chirp if someone is standing right next to the car, and full siren if someone reaches in. I don't care about annoying other people from chirping so much. After your car gets stolen you wish you did everything to help, no matter how annoying.

I hope you don't **** off to many people, Did you know your car can be towed and inpounded if you car alarm goes full trigger to many times in a hour. Its called the nusience law. You should check with your local police department. In cerritos we have one. I think I might have been the first to test it. My teg was towed from right infront of my house when I went away for the weekend. And I could not get a refund on the towing, Even thou I think someone was trying to steal it. You could see some damage were someone was trying to pop the hood. Show it to the cops but they said o-well, I say better to have it towed then stolen.
