Disabeling Factory Alarm System
I have a 2000 Accord with factory alarm. I goes off at all hours by itsef. I have taken to dealer but they could not find the problem. They would not disable it because it would disable horn. I have checked every contact point and I can't make the alarm go off. I have pulled the horn relay to stifle sound but the lights still flash and the cruise will not set. Can anyone tell me how to disable the alarm without afftecting the horn, cruise or door locks???

Here are the installation instructions (the alarm was optional on the LX):
http://www.handa-accessories.c...y.pdf
Take a look at page three, note that there are a number of settings you can change, like the sensitivity, you can put tape over the glass breakage sensor, switch the alarm to manual, etc.
I wonder if setting the alarm to manual would effectively turn it off?

connect the 2 wires on the hood switch together so the alarm will think the hood is open and won't arm (EX only).

Re: Disabeling Factory Alarm System (stereo69)
I have the EX model. I cannot locate the control unit. There is nothing mounted on the underside of the steering column. I do see a black box mounted under the dash but it has no adjustment buttons of any kind on it. Any suggestions. It was suggested to me to wire the two wires together on the hood release. Do you know if this would keep the system from arming??

Connecting the two hood wires did keep system from arming. This also allowed me to lock the doors and as far as I can tell did not affect any other function. Thanks for the simple solution!!
