Default Different Sound Deadening

First, I'll lay out how I came to this. The general consensus is that covering your car in fatmat, dynamat, or peel n stik (or whatever), isn't the best way to truely block sound. The better way, apparently, is using sound deadener showdown or second skin, but it's crazy expensive. So this got me thinking....

Moving Blankets.

People already use moving blankets for recording and other audio uses, why not just load up a car with 100 lbs of blankets. Just for the record, my Honda is my daily, if it's ever on a track it's not competitive and the quality of ride means more to me than the downside that's the equivalent of bussing my little sister around all the time if her weight could be evenly distributed through-out the whole car.

The plan would be to make a solid flat layer of blanket under the carpet and along the firewall, a layer behind the door panels and other plastic body panels. But then, if I could line the blankets on the inside of the quarter panels, under the rear windows (94 gsr) and then just stuff a bunch of blankets in there on top of it, just stuff the empty metal cavity echo chambers with blankets!

My room mate is skeptical of the whole plan, but I'm thinking it could work out. Below is the link to the blankets in question, a pack of 24 that weighs about 52 lbs a bundle, I can get 2 bundles for $130, that's like the low-end cost of people covering their interiors with fatmat.

For noise reduction I use jute underlay, works like a blanket, but easier to make fit, I will use it under the carpet and behind trim paneling.

I will also spray rubberized undercoating in rear the wheel wells, [3-4 layers].94
