Compustar Programming Help! (turbo timer)
I've got a compustar alarm with a 4button remote. I've tried to activate the turbo timer on the remote, as per the manual it says to press buttons 3 and 4 for 0.5s, when i do the park lights flash 3 times, but it doesn't actually activate the turbo timer bcs when i open/close the door the engine shuts off.
I saw on the manual for the main control unit that by default the turbo timer mode is OFF. In order to turn it on I have to go through the programming menu
--------- as per the manual ----------
Option Programming for Four Button Remotes
Step 1: For Programming menu 1: Press Buttons (I+II) for 2 seconds.
For Programming menu 2: Press Buttons (I+IV) for 2 seconds. The car will chirp once indicating that you are in
programming mode.
Step 2: Within a 2 second after pressing (I+II) or (I+IV), press Button IV the number of times to go to the option number you want
to change. You have to hear a chirp and see the parking light flash each time when you press Button IV.
Step 3: Wait a few seconds. You will hear a number of chirps and see a number of parking light flashes corresponding to the
option number you want to change. If the number of chirps or flashes is not what you want, go back to Step 1.
Step 4: Press Button I for the default factory settings and your car will respond by one chirp and one flash. Press Button II for the
optional setting and your car will respond by two chirps and two parking flashes.
------------------------
the unit will go into programming mode but when cycling through the options (button IV) after about the 4th or 5th selection the park lights flash 3 times and it goes out of programming mode... Turbo Timer mode is option 7!!
Everything else works... alarm, PL, autostart, etc...
I'm so close to having it where i want it... If I had known it would take me this long to install and figure out the unit i would have gladly paid someone to do it for me...

All i have to say is the steps for programming is NOT as simple as the manual makes it out to be... it's MISSING steps.

Re: Compustar Programming Help! (fcm)
Sorry to bring up such an old post but I'm having the EXACT same problem this guy has. I cannot take my car to a dealer, there isn't one around.
Can anyone tell me how to make the turbo timer work? Everytime I put it in programming mode then hit the button to cycle to the 7th option, it goes out of programming mode after the 4th flash.
HELP!!

You have to use the backup white remote to turn turbo timer mode on and off, unless you have the white 2 way remote all ready. Use the process as listed. Once turned on you can go back to using the normal blue remote.

Re: (revhi)
back up white remote? No such thing came with mine. Only 1 black remote.
I read in the manual that you need to push the button 7 times within 2 seconds, I think this is where I'm doing it wrong, I'm gonna try again at lunch today.

No luck, still won't get to 7th option.
Compustar tech support won't help since I didn't get it from them.
I'm 110% positive it is installed correctly.

As I said you cant do it with the remote you have. If you didnt get the back up white remote your out of luck unless you go to a dealer and have them use the bitwriter to program it. If the dealer doesnt have it, good luck its on national back order. Or maybe they have a back up remote they can program and use to turn the feature on.
The reason I know is because Im a Compustar dealer and have turned on the turbo timer feature a few times.

Re: (revhi)
Others who have gotten turbo timer feature to work, did you use the regular black remote?
Can anyone else confirm what revhi is saying? I'm skeptical of his info......

Re: (mike1114)
Ok, I finally persuaded someone at Compustar to talk to me breifly.
You DO NOT have to have a dealer turn on the turbo timer. It is all done through the remote.
I guess I just gotta keep trying!!!

Re: (revhi)
revhi....don't e-hate, help me or post somewhere else please.
I don't get it. I can sometimes get to the 7th option but then what? Press 2 for the option instead of default setting and then it should click/chirp 7 times. I get it to do that but when I then try to turn on the turbo function, the car chirps 3 times and tells me the door is open. I tried doing it with all the doors shut and nothing.

Ive been trying to help you. You dont f'ing listen to a damn Compustar dealer, have fun trying. What makes you think that you can do it, cause the books says, or the dumb asses at Compustar tech? Theres only 2 guys at Compustar tech who are any good. When we call for tech, we call the one guys cell number to get through faster.

Re: (revhi)
UPDATE!! I GOT THE TURBO TIMER FUNCTION TO WORK!!!!
First let me start off by saying I'm a jackass. Thats right, apparently I cannot read.
I have been going into Program Mode #2 the entire time, the turbo mode is on Program Mode #1.
All of a sudden it came to me this weekend. As soon as I figured that out I tried the right way and it worked first time, 100%.
