Re: Clifford rs-3? (Akina)
Wish I knew, I just got the Clifford Matrix RSIII for 170 bucks including install cause I work at best buy, only thing that sucks is the install list is so long I'm lookin at end of feb. before it's installed! Everyone who works in car audio told me it's amazing, so let's hope they are right!

Same deal with me, but there is an employee purchase program through Clifford, tell him to go onto tagzone and look for the form to fill out. All you have to do is have the manager sign it and send it out, they mail it to your ohuse.

It wound up costing me 85 bucks in parts, and install should be included in the original price. There is this mercury switch thing that I needed for my car which was like 80 bucks, so besides that everything else needed was mad cheap.

Yes the employee purchase only allows 1 to be purchased. Tagzone is an intranet set for best buy employees. You can only log in from a store and need a username and password.
And I am pretty sure the matrix does have dual proximity...

I got it. Full setup... all sensors, backup batt, interor siren...ect... Nice remote (backlit with vibrate too, I didnt know that when I got it). Ok range, I expected a little bit more though. It really really depends on the building I think. It well page me anywhere in my house if the car is parked in the driveway (not very far though), or anywhere at work (I work in a supermarket /grocery store-pretty big actaully-im usually over 500ft away in a brick bulding); however it doesent work at school at all! I got to be half way to my car in the parking lot before I can even remote start it.
Theres 2 things I dont like about it:
1) the remotes a lil too big to carry in your pocket 24/7 (ie: I wount carry it around in my pocket inside my house. Or at work I set the remote to beep if my alarm is setoff and set the remote on a table).
2) the buttons on the remote can EASLY be pressed while the remote is in your pocket. It beeps or vibrates to let you know that a butten was pressed but its a pain in the *** to get up and close your trunk because you bumped up against the remote in your pocket.
btw, I got mine from bestbuy... no problem getting in for the install at all. Actually both bestbuys near me could have installed the alarm the next day. However the install people only get a average raiting because the guy forgot to wire in the power locks (went back, fixed free, all good) witch made a little hassle. Shock sensor is good. Mercery sensor is very nice, because the dude installed it on the underside of the hood. So, it functions at both a hoodpin and tilt sensor. Btw, it was only like $15 for the tilt sensor. Interror siren is a good idea at $14. Pretty loud. I wouldnt try to rewire the alarm with the siren right next to your ear.
if you have anymore questions, just ask. btw, where could I post up a review?

Very nice DETAILED review of the system
I like seeing responses from actual experience and the details you have included.
I hate seeing stuff like.....Brand X kicks ***.....Brand Y is crap......I have a buddy that is friends, with my sister's, soon to be husband's nephew and he owns one and it is much better than brand Y.
When I worked for another company many years ago, we didnt install DEI. We installed Clifford, Crimestopper, Code-Alarm, Prestige, etc. Ive had no BEEF with DEI, as a matter of fact, now I still use their line of bypass modules and doorlock modules ( etc. 555L, 555U, 455T )
DEI's product and Tech Support remains strong in the industry. Before, as a store, it was harder to get the line and you had to show your credentials. Now, everyone and their mom can carry DEI ( or some sort of it ) Thats why they have come up with names like Python, Rattler, Your Valet, etc. There was too much saturation in the market.
Then install quality has gone down, because now Joe Schmoe has gotten his hands on some and installed them poorly making the product look bad.
I think a product should be distributed enough to be sucessful, but if it falls in the wrong hands, or too many hands, it can make or break the product. Especially if the product requires installation and constant up-to-date knowledge of electrical systems in today's newer cars. Its not like you are selling SOAP or something that requires NO installation.
Everytime a new model car rolls off the assembly line......an installer must gear up be ready to learn to interface with that vehicle. Its an on-going learning process for a installer.
About, the RESPONDER, I thought the remote wasnt truely BACKLIT like the CompuStar's, but rather more like the little light on your calculator screen or watch. I have also heard.......from a BEST BUY employee's mouth...as a matter of fact. That the range of the RESPONDER doesnt come close to the CompuStar's. I'll need to see for myself.
I havent personally tried one yet, but once I do I will give you some feedback.

Re: Clifford rs-3? (HandCommand)
Ive got the viper 790xv which i believe its the same. DEI markets the same alarm as like 3 different brands but anyways, if it is the same i'd reccomend it. The viper 790 kicks ***.

Re: Clifford rs-3? (GasHuffer)
Clifford went out of business and DEI (the maker of Viper) took over the developing of Matrix RS, hence, RSIII...I still think Avantguard 4 is the ultimate weapon against cheap *** mothfawker who can afford their own shiet and have to steal it off other's cars...

Re: Clifford rs-3? (Akina)
The Avantguard IV is a much better as far as security goes but it's $1k installed. The DEI pager is basically the time tested Viper 550 with paging capabilities. I heard the remotes go through a battery per month.
