Default Battery Relocation questions.

I drive a 95 accord sedan, it has 4 gauge wire running through it already, I was thinking about just using that with the battery in the trunk. First question is, will that be enough power? Or will my battery die? Second question. I still want a low watt amp for my speakers, can I run it off that battery in the trunk? Or will it drain it? Third question is, is it possable to have my car battery and a smaller battery for the audio in my trunk? If so, how would I wire it? Any input or ideas is great. Thanks!

Default Re: Battery Relocation questions.

4ga is a little on the light side, depending on how long the cable would be from the batt. to the front of the car, keeping the batt. charged is not the problem, the problem is trying to pull enough current through that 4ga on a cold day to start the car, a 2ga would be a lot better.

Any batt. no matter where it is that has a load on it will drain if the engine is not running.

Yes you can run two batt. nothing needs to be done to the batt. in front, install a constant duty solenoid close to that batt. connect a 4ga from that batt, to the CDS, connect the 4ga you have to the other side of the CDS, use an ign. source, [hot in run] to trigger/turn on the CDS, install your second batt. in the back and connect the 4ga to it with a 150A inline ANL fuse as close to the batt. as practical, ground the batt. to a good ground point with a 4ga lead as short as possible, connect any amp power to that batt, connect amp ground to a good ground point again as short as possible, but not to the same ground point as the batt. your done.

The second batt. will charge when engine is running and can run the amp till it is draind dead, without draning the main batt. if engine is not running. 94
