Amp gain wattage

Amp gain wattage
Let's take for example a 100 rms watt amp. If I turn the gain to 50%, this means I'm using only 50 rms watts of the amp's total power? If yes, then I'm basically wasting the other 50 watts, right?

That is not the way gain controls work. Check this page out for a good explanation...
